An excellent little museum in Norfolk based around a Second World War Hippodrome building, later converted into an R30 operations block. The radar station at Neatishead, operated by the RAF, was operational from 1940 and continues to contribute to the UK air defence picture through a Remote Radar Head (RRH) on site. Much of the surrounding site has been sold off; one corner being home to the Air Defence Museum, another operating a private robotics venture, and the final section, a ROTOR station and radar are currently closed but reportedly in a good state of repair.
While the museum has the name RAF, it is a charitable venture and not affiliated with the Royal Air Force (although I believe they have given their permission to use their name).

I'm currently doing some work with for the Up on the Downs/Let Them Speak For Themselves project. The aim is to update the work of the Defence of Britain Project to get a current record of the 20th Century Defences around Dover and Folkestone
Here are the sites I have so far look at, photographed and recorded the status of on the Western Heights area of Dover
I'll add better descriptions when I get a chance....

TL/DR A two-gun QF artillery battery on the edge of Hollesley Common protecting the River Deben in Suffolk.
Two heavy gun positions sit on Hollesley Common in Suffolk, about 2.5km inland. Often referred to as a 6-inch battery, the holdfasts aren't suitable. It's more likely to have been home to two 4-inch Quick Firing naval guns, probably removed from WW1-era ships.
With a range of 8-km for the 4-inch guns, this would have enabled indirect fire to reign down upon the River Deben to the west and the Butley River to the East. The two emplacements are on a north-west / south-east algignment, prioritising targets to their east and west, as opposed to the beach in front of it. Firing on the beach would mean the northern emplacment firing over its own magazine and crew shelter, as well as over the southern emplacement.
From the remaining defences in the area, including large lengths of improved natural anti-tank defences, I think these guns were placed here to harrass enemy vehicles attempting to land, or having landed on the beaches, but they are also greatly placed to help prevent fast patrol boats entering the River Deben; this appears to be their main target. The river is well within range, but they are far enough away that the guns from any small patrol boats entering the river would not be able to return fire.
A great site!
