The UK Trade & Investment Section at the British Embassy in Budapest organised a very successful seminar with four companies from the UK on 16 November 2011.
They stick poles into the sea bed and after a while enough silt will collect for a salt-marsh to form. It looks much nicer than most sea defences. It also looks like an upside down Eritrean flag in this photo.
To infiltrate the Red Building you first need to hurdle the Yellow Flowers and then navigate the Rows of Poles.

In Front a fortification from 1807. Four fortifications defended this little harbour and the fjord .... why?

Puymartin Castle is located 6km from Sarlat.
At the start of the Hundred Years War, Puymartin Castle was a strategic axis of the conflict between France and England. In 1356, King Jean le Bon was taken prisoner by the English, which triggered a series of troubles in France. English mercenaries storm Puymartin on January 8, 1357.
The consul of Sarlat sends his representatives to monetize their departure. They end up liberating the castle. Then to avoid any new occupation of the site, the crenels, the ramparts of the walls and roofs of the castle are removed, destroyed and the floors uprooted. Puymartin will remain in ruins throughout the Hundred Years War.
Today remain the remains of the primitive castle of the 13th century partly destroyed by the repeated assaults of the Hundred Years War, the traces of the many architectural transformations and additions made in the 16th century, the painted decorations of the 17th century, unique in Périgord ( classified as Historic Monuments), until the major overhaul of the 19th century. Each defensive system, each mullioned window, each addition bears witness to a singular history, that of the Château de Puymartin in Périgord, which is part of a more global history, that of the history of France.

The EU is facing a dramatically aggravated security environment in the East and South of its borders. At the same time, the financial crisis has led to drastic uncoordinated cuts in the defence budgets of the EU Member States. The EU's ability to project power into its neighbourhood is weak, most of its CSDP (Common Security and Defence Policy) operations are just too little, too late. While territorial defence of Western Europe continues to depend heavily on the US, several consecutive American administrations have been urging Europeans to take more responsibility for their own security within NATO.
The European Council has so far taken only small steps to encourage greater cooperation among Member States – clearly insufficient, if one looks at the alarming and deteriorating circumstances.
On the eve of the European Council on Defence of 25th June, ALDE will present its 'Roadmap towards an Integrated EU Military' to show the way how to achieve more European defence for less money, essentially by building an integrated European pillar of NATO.
The event will see a presentation of the roadmap by ALDE President Guy Verhofstadt, followed by keynote speeches by two ALDE Ministers of Defence and their former Finnish counterpart.

The remains of a seawall running 1 ½ miles north of Ness Point in Lowestoft and the Gunton Cliffs through to Corton was considered to be suitable as part of the WWII Anti-Invasion Coastal Defences and also to be tank proof, the hinterland was considered to be good tank country if an invasion broke through. The Coastal Defences were incorporated into the seawall adding Loopholes, placing Pillboxes along the wall including a 6 pounder Anti-Tank Gun and Anti-Tank Obstacles.
Along this stretch of coast line following Lowestoft, the remains of the defences can still be made out, the distinctive ''Double Loopholes'' of the Suffolk Square Pillbox, although now they are mostly camouflaged in sea weed.
