This is one of the living kings of Hip-Hop, Russell Simmons, who built an empire - including Def Jam records, which he launched with
Rick Rubin -
the home of Run DMC,
Public Enemy, Beastie Boys
and more. He's a serious
philanthropist - fighting the
good fight.
This was taken moments
after he paid tribute to his pal
Sean P. Diddy Combs, who had
just received a star on
Hollywood Boulevard's
Walk of Fame. Unlike some
of the other stars present,
who had long limos lined up
blocking traffic, Russell drove
himself and parked across
the street - walking down
the old boulevard just like
a real person - where a man
on a bicycle with a camera
(me) accosted him and
requested a photo. Though
he didn't actually stop walking,
he did regard me with this
warm smile, and this is
RS in motion.
