Photo Of The Week - The Sunshine Group - 3/15/20

You wouldn't believe how much time I spend doing what I'm doing in the photo 😂😌💭 I know the past few photos have been a little lacking...unfortunately uni has taken priority...hopefully by next week my assignments are done and dusted and I should hopefully have something nice to finish the project off with!

Approval from others is one of those things we cannot avoid. It fuels our ego, keeps us motivated, and gives us satisfaction that our achievements aren't just the fabrications of our own deluded internal egos. However, what does one do when we don't receive approval from those who mean most to us? Do we write them off? Do we consider their bitterness and lack of acceptance as jealousy or envy? What can we do to continue to better ourselves in spite of criticism from those we so badly want to impress?

The answer: focus on what makes you happy, and not what you think will please those around you. Easier said than done, right?

*Cheers to finding your own form of happiness*

J: What do you mean you're going vegan? how could this be?

C: I don't love meat that much. I mean, maybe your memories are skewed.

J: what about fish eyes, Gheimeh, queso fondido, strawberries n cream?

C: uh...

Enjoyed time spent with a friend at Juno Beach a few weeks ago, and happened to capture this story. The long shadow looks like it's reflecting some deep sad thoughts that extend way out. But when we're ready, all we have to do is look up.

It was cold! The two on the left are either running to stay warm or they are from Alaska. And in reality she wasn't sad.

You must be the change you wish to see in the world, are you?

Where are you?

*[Cool bird. He hung-out with me for about 45 minutes,

did some quick fishing by the shoreline for a snack, and

then took off down the river. Not afraid of me at all! Fun!]

"The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature."

if you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them.

Up close and personal. I am fascinated with eyes and given the opportunity will get close to reveal some of their personality. Vulnerability, intellect, trust and drive all at once.

Sometimes...the path ahead is clear. Sometimes, it's a little bit fuzzy. But, if you just keep moving forward, you'll end up somewhere. Deep Thoughts.

This may be my favorite pic of Ripley the pup. The profound expression in her sweet eyes completely captures me here. And her patented canine head cock, the bit of dirt on her nose, even the random Mexican blanket in the negative space all amuse me. She's clearly saying "I'm earnestly trying to understand here, Chief. Talk to me." Like all relationships, we're still working on our communication skills.

My second attempt, well the same picture, with some enhanced mood lighting. I didn't want to move when I took the shot so I tried to concentrate on something besides the photo, hence the broading look on my face.

"Are you ready for them Chinese donuts?"

They call it the Chinese Manhattan. Downtown Flushing in Queens is where the action is. It's crowded. It's dirty. It stinks. But it makes for great street photography location. In Mandarin, Flushing is known as "Falasheng", which is a type of walking stride when one has consumed too much alcohol. No, just kidding.
