Dedicated in 1926, the Column features a hand-painted spiral frieze that celebrates three historic events: the discovery of the Columbia River by Captain Robert Gray, the end of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and the arrival of the ship Tonquin. The artwork was created by immigrant artist Attilio Pusterla. 125' Tall.
Like other historical houses of Kashan, Borujerdi House is an example of a wealthy Kashan family residence of the 19th century. This house belonged to Borujerdi family and is an outstanding masterpiece of Persian architecture.
Borujerdi House was built in 1857 by Seyyed Mehdi Borujerdi, a merchant from Kashan. Seyyed fell in love with a girl from the affluent Tabatabaei family. To impress her family, the merchant dedicated this house to the girl, who became his wife. The construction took 18 years and 150 craftsmen – no wonder it is one of the most impressive buildings of the city.
In 2014, Hao Ping, President of UNESCO General Conference, visited Kashan and nominated Borujerdi House as the most beautiful historical house in Asia. In 2015, Borujerdi House was chosen as UNESCO Top Choice to visit in Iran.

Dedicated to my uncle Carl, he was a gentle soul that touched the lives of everyone he knew. He cared for everyone and treated them as family, he bent over backwards to help others wherever he could. He was a joker and a prankster, half the time you didn't know if he was full of shit because he made up elaborate stories on the spot to screw with you.
He wouldn't take your bullshit either, I learned some valuable lessons from the man when I was young, stupid, and cared only about myself. He set me straight and I didn't want to speak to him for many years because of my own stupid pride. He may not have known, but he taught me a lot about treating others with respect.
The love he had for my aunt Kathy was nothing short of beautiful, they were inseparable and brought so much joy to each others lives that I could never imagine them being apart, for as long as I can remember it has been "Kathy & Carl", as one. My heart breaks to see them torn apart, but I know they will be 'Together Again'. We love and miss you Carl.

Years ago, we bought Caspian Sea Beluga caviar at the Grand Bazaar, Istanbul market and eat on the street coffee shop: with Turkish coffee instead of champagne and strawberries… And we laughed and said that street food is good enough for Anthony Bourdain, good enough for us... Sadly, Fish-rows were rancid and we left at the coffee shop and waiters were very happy.
Finally, your poor soul is free…May you rest in peace. Hope that God gives your family the courage and strength to bear the loss.

My Sis was admitted to the Cleveland Clinic, after complications of little Curly trying to break on through before his time, little "Curly" was named by little" Khloe", Curly's soon to be sister.
My sis is on bedrest until the little Curly appears, could be 3-4 weeks, a bummer for sure.
This Picture depicts the long road ahead but also shows the light at the end of the trail, the bridge is a long one but there is a stadium full of friends and family waiting to cheer!

An endangered species that seems to be making a significant comeback thanks to public education and active protection provided by dedicated, hard-working volunteers and organizations, birders and birdists.
These guys are tiny and delicate -- an adult's wingspan can be up to 21 inches but their weight tops out at about 1 1/2 ounces. They flutter like butterflies and maneuver like magic, but despite their diminutivity [if it's not a word it should be] they are tenacious and effective predators, Little aquatic raptors -- they plunge-dive for their prey like tiny pelicans. Amazing birds, fun to watch (and to photograph).
The bird in the photo looks angry, probably because he had just dropped a hard-earned fish. I missed the drop shot.

LIMNI - ΛΙΜΝΗ (Oct. 26th, 2014).
Limni, on the island of Evia, is a small port, beach and tourist resort, which is beautiful the whole year round. It is located 80 km NW of Chalkida and about 150 km from Athens.
The island of Evia lies along the Eastern coast of Central Greece, and is accessible to the mainland via two bridges, an old wooden bridge and a contemporary suspension bridge. There are also frequent ferries to several parts of the island. It is 175 km long and is the second largest island in Greece, and the third largest in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Taken on the weekend of October 25th-26th, 2014 while my English wife Theresa Jane Brown and I were visiting friends.

The Desert Botanical Garden is well designed for disability access. Some of the side loops have gentle grades. There are plenty of benches throughout the Garden and plenty of shade.
This is a bench with some character for Bench Monday. Thanks to karma (Karen) for introducing me to some of these groups. HBM!
