The Clube Naval de Lajes das Flores is situated in a structure above the port and marina, crafted from volcanic blocks with whitewashed edges—a characteristic style in the Azores I refer to as "Dalmatian houses”. This building holds historical significance as the former site of the Lajes Whale Factory, established in the 19th century for the production of whale oil. However, operations ceased in 1981 due to protective measures for whales, putting an end to hunting activities.

Today, the Clube Naval actively promotes sea-based sports and recreation such as sailing, diving, and boating. They offer courses and trips in these activities while also overseeing the Lajes Whaling Museum, housed within the old whale factory. Adjacent to it, in the Casa dos Botes warehouse, the club dedicates efforts to preserving and restoring historic whaling boats.

Sunrise in San Diego.

I would like to dedicate the photo of this beautiful, delicate and heart-shaped physalis that I found in my garden solely to love.

With all the chaos, panic and suffering we face every single day, it is imperative to always be aware that there is another force that is so much stronger.

Love is a universal power that each and every one of us is born with. It is the only thing that multiplies exponentially when we share it with others. It is the ultimate tool in dealing with others but also with ourselves. It can heal, protect and inspire. The power of love can create worlds and tear down fortresses. It is so fragile and at the same time indestructible

Love follows neither physical laws nor logical aspects. It's just there. Always and everywhere.

We don't need to look or ask for it. Pure love has no price and has no conditions. It belongs to no one and therefore belongs to everyone.

Upper Proxy Falls, Oregon

Man I have been busy the past few weeks. I went on a few adventures which includes an overnight backpack, some tough hikes, amazing mountain views, waterfall hunts, a run-in with a scorpion, and kayaking. I'm finally just now catching up with all the photos, and soon I'll be going on a vacation with the husband and once again fall behind with photos haha. Man, I wish I had more time to dedicate to my hobby.

I digress.

I woke up super early on one of my rare weekdays off and drove to my first waterfall excursion. I arrived at the trailhead to Proxy Falls at 7:30 am and had the whole place to myself. It was wonderful to be able to admire, get up close, and take my time setting up my shots. The two waterfalls are so beautiful and magical looking. The moss, crisscrossing logs, ferns, and rocks made for idyllic atmosphere. It was a perfect start to my day of exploration.

I'd like to dedicate this photo to a couple of friends. I was on a recent photo trip, and after a 3 hour drive, decided to stop and see a couple of friends that I only get to see once a year. I had sunset photo plans for another area, but they talked me into going for supper at a local eatery. I had some time before meeting them, so did a little exploring and found this location at sunset. Conditions weren't very good, so decided to try sunrise photos instead ending with this result. I would not have gotten this photo without the influence of my friends. Cheers to them !

I dedicate this image to my long time California storm chasing companion Miguel De La Cruz who just by chance wasn't able to do the late night shift this chase required. This one's for you Amigo!

I have had this exact shot in my head for forever and a day now. I'm still in utter disbelief that I got it. The bolts were striking to the south of Mt. Diablo when I arrived at this location, but I set up anyways and just started shooting. Yeah, I can be stubborn and obstinate at times. I was either going to get lightning over the mountain or nothing at all. To top it off, I have recently come down with a summer cold, so my energy level was down to zilch. The odds seemed stacked against this image happening. I even passed this location up and drove four miles down the road before deciding to return to the spot.

Seven shots in, and this happened. That's all it took. I'm pretty stoked.

The lens and the star filter used for this photo are my brother's. The ring in the photo is my favorite ring. For me that completes the circle: a ring has no end, no beginning. Special people will always remain in our hearts.

I am dedicating this image that I took only a couple of days ago in the quiet hours of the early morning to the memory of my dad, Keith Gordon, on this father's day as a place of beauty and tranquility and as a memory of the last place I managed to take him to before he fell ill only days later.

Still hard to believe that he's not around to look through my photographs as he used to but I would like to think it's still possible that he can.

Rest in peace old chap - Keith Arthur Gordon - 27th March 1929 to 6th March 2018. Forever in my thoughts.

Że nie wiemy co to przyszłość. Mroźna zima wygląda jak zmierzch naszego życia. W tych warunkach wszystko umiera, wiara też...

I zdarza się cud, w który nikt nie wierzył. I życie znów staje się piękne. I mimo mrozu mazurskiej zimy wiemy już, że to tylko piękny widok, i że po zimie będzie kolejna wiosna. I znów będzie pięknie, tylko inaczej, bo cieplej. I wraca nadzieja na kolejne piękne widoki.

Aby niewielu czytających te słowa wiedziało, co dzieje się w duszy człowieka, który tego doświadczył i wie, co to znaczy żyć na krawędzi i stamtąd wrócił (przynajmniej na razie).

The diagnosis was: you had lung cancer and probably already had metastases to another lobe of the lung. One lobe of my lung was removed and it turned out that not only did I not have any metastases, but I also did not have lung cancer. It turned out that the CT scan showed that I had lung cancer and it was an image of what is called organizing pneumonia.

I'm dedicating this in Memory of the Army Staff Sgt. James R. Stright killed and in Honor of the Amy and Navy Special Forces that were injured and those that are serving and the Crew of the USNS Arctic. It was a tragic accident last night. Thanks to those that serve and those that have paid the ultimate price.
