Este edificio fue encargado a Gaudà por la sociedad "Fernández y Andrés" de León - sucesora de la empresa fundada por el señor Joan Homs i Botinà s (de aquà el nombre de Botines) -, que estaba regentada por los señores Simón Fernández Fernández y Mariano Andrés Luna que tenÃan relaciones comerciales, debido a sus negocios textiles, con el conde Eusebi Güell quien les recomendó a Gaudà como arquitecto.
Gaudà trabajaba entonces en la construcción del Palacio Episcopal de Astorga y por la proximidad de ambos edificios se decidió a aceptar el encargo.
Gaudà firmó los planos del inmueble en el mes de diciembre de 1891 y una vez superado el litigio que los propietarios tuvieron con el Ayuntamiento, las obras empezaron el 4 de enero de 1892, dirigidas por Claudi Alsina, y se terminaron en noviembre del mismo año.
En el año 1931, la Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad de León, adquirió el edificio. Esta entidad realizó algunas reformas que rompÃan el diseño original eliminando siete pilares del sótano. Afortunadamente un nuevo propietario (Caja España), al reconvertir nuevamente el edificio para hacerlo su sede social, realizó en el año 1994 una reforma que restauró la estructura tal y como la habÃa previsto GaudÃ.
Para esta restauración, se contrataron los arquitectos Mariano Diaz Sáenz y Felix Compadre DÃez que volvieron a colocar los pilares eliminados anteriormente, pilares que se reconstruyeron con los mismos materiales utilizados por GaudÃ.
Durante estas obras, se encontraron dentro de la estatua de San Jorge - obra de Antoni Cantó y Vicenç Matamala - que preside la entrada principal, unos rollos de papel que se habÃan introducido dentro de la estatua durante la construcción y que daban una serie de informaciones sobre las personas y circunstancias de la construcción, lo que ha permitido un mejor conocimiento de estos aspectos.
Descripción:
Se trata de un edificio de planta rectangular a cuatro vientos diseñada en un estilo neogótico, pero que presenta unas caracterÃsticas constructivas muy modernas para la época en que fue construido. Efectivamente, pese al aspecto medieval del edificio, Gaudà aplica una concepción moderna de la arquitectura tanto en el aspecto constructivo, como en el artÃstico y de utilización.
La estructura del edificio se apoya en columnas metálicas ligeras en el sótano, permitiendo de esta manera un espacio más diáfano que se adecuaba mejor a las necesidades comerciales a que este área se destinaba. En los pisos superiores, la función de apoyo se confÃa a paredes de carga.
Se accede al edificio a través de una puerta lobulada situada en el centro de la fachada principal, siendo este el único lugar donde se rompe el foso que rodea el edificio por delante de las fachadas principal y lateral para dar paso a las escaleras de acceso. Sobre esta puerta se halla una estatua de San Jorge luchando con el dragón, que ya mencionamos en el apartado de historia, y que se cierra con una notable reja de hierro forjado en que podemos observar una figura de león rodeado de motivos vegetales y que evoca el nombre de la ciudad.
A cada ángulo de las cuatro fachadas totalmente recubiertas con sillares de piedra gris de extracción local, encontramos una torre circular. Una importante cantidad de ventanas neogóticas más abundantes a medida que vamos bajando desde el tejado a la planta baja, permiten asegurar una mejor iluminación. En la planta superior, la iluminación está también asegurada por unos tragaluces, situados en el tejado, que además también facilitan la ventilación, función esta a la que también coadyuvan los seis patios interiores.
Por encima del semisótano y la planta baja, se encuentran tres niveles más las buhardillas. En el primero de estos niveles hay dos pisos, uno para cada propietario y en cada uno de los niveles superiores cuatro pisos destinados a alquiler.
El tejado está cubierto con pizarra gris.

Steve & I home-school our children, recently moving from Washington to Oregon to purchase a 5 acre farm and raise some animals. We've acquired a handful of cute critters: 5 goats, a calf, 4 cats (mousers), 2 dogs, and a dozen hens. Fresh farm eggs are on the way!! My hobbies are coaching and reffing soccer, reffing basketball, #1 cheerleader for the family, enjoying the beach, soaking up the Sun, reading and researching new topics of interest, and encouraging others in their walk with the Lord. In April, my husband and two younger sons traveled to Panama with e3. This life-changing experience transformed Steve's outlook on short-term missions, and gave me hope of fulfilling my own mission's passion and returning to foreign soil. After living in Israel for 9 months as an eighteen-year-old student, the fire to reach the lost has never died! Steve is considering full-time work with e3 partners and has asked me to go on this trip. This, in itself, is a miracle from the Lord! I long to be completely and unashamedly sold out for Christ, willing to pay the price for His glory! Rwanda is calling me and I'm answering the call............
Emmanuel un niño de 4 años tiene como gran sueño ser futbolista, y piensa que para lograrlo debe ir al estadio cueste lo que cueste. Luego de muchas suplicas, su madre promete llevarlo, pero en medio del camino, un asunto de trabajo impide hacerlo. Enojado, y en medio de un descuido de su madre, Emmanuel se escapa para ir al estadio el solo, guiándose por los hinchas que se encuentra en el camino.

Well I was able to gift it to Deb yesterday… fit like a glove & was truly loved…
Strange thing was when I went to wrap it; I picked it upside down & found that the collar made a lovely little frill effect around the back at the bottom & in front of the arms & around the neck had the smooth band… Guess what? We liked it upside down best, when she put it on… but in truth it could be worn both ways for different outfits & looks… Never got a photo of it worn with the frill so you will just have to use you wonderful imaginations…

We just built this, it's a dual-pane window with the interior pane custom stained glass made by Deb, my sweetheart. This is in the spa. This window is 54" x 34"; that is a big piece of stained glass!
This is a northern exposure window, so it never gets direct sun. Later tonight, I'll shoot the window from the outside, with the interior light shining out through it.
This is the result of many months of work; it is the second in a series of fourteen that we're doing to replace the "blah" yellow rippled glass in our church-turned-into-home.

Pride Weekend was held August 26-28, 2016 in Erie PA. The weekend began with a Pride Kick-Off Drag Show held at the Zone Dance Club, 133 W 18th St, Erie PA. Performers at the drag show were Michelle Michaels, Misty Michaels Kall, Lovin Heart, Jill Jameson and Vicky Bendme.
Saturday began with the March to Pridefest organized by NW PA Pride Alliance. The step off was at the Zone Dance Club. Parade units included NW PA Pride Alliance, Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Erie, Temple Anshe Hesed, LBT Women of Erie, Erie Democratic Coordinated Campaign, General Electric Transportation GLBTA Alliance, Ladyfest Erie, Northwestern High School GSA, Eerie Roller Girls, TransFamily of NWPA Transgender Support Group, and Community United Church. There were 152 people in the parade.
Media coverage included Erie Times News, both local TV news crews, and .MIC from NYC.
NW PA Pride Alliance also organized Pridefest, which was held in Griswold Park after the parade. Over 370 people attended Pridefest. The keynote speaker was Erie County Councilmember Jay Breneman. Performers for Pridefest included drag performers Michelle Michaels, Misty Michaels Kall, Jill Jameson and musical acts Populi, Honest Mistakes and Billy Wynn,
GEAE sponsored a tent at Pridefest for HIV, Hep C and syphilis testing that was performed by Erie County Department of Health and Community Health Net.

After Pridefest, GEAE held an After Pride Party at the Bourbon Barrel that was attended by 100 people and which collected clothing items for SafeNet. The Zone Dance Club held an Island Heat Tropical Glow Party.
The next day, Sunday, August 28, NWPA Pride Alliance held Pride Day at Waldameer Park and Waterworld. About 100 people attended.
