Former Saginaw Valley SW1200 #998 and Central Michigan C30-7 #5175 sit in the deadline at Huron & Eastern's Wenona Yard on a cold February day in 2013. #998 had tentatively been sold to The Anderson's, which had re-numbered it to AEX #999993. The unit would later be re-sold to the Burlington Junction Railway. #5175 would not be so lucky, as it would be unceremoniously cut up by G&W a few months later. There was nothing wrong with it, either.
A string of stored units belonging to the Reading and Northern sit on track 4 in the railroads Penobscot Yard beside their Lehigh Division mainline, the ex Conrail Lehigh Line that once was the Central Railroad of New Jersey's heavy haul coal route to Ashley Yard in Wilkes-Barre.
RBMN 5033 is an EMD SD50 originally blt. Dec. 1984 as MP 5033 in UP Armour Yellow dress but with Missouri Pacific lettering. Behind her are assorted Juniata rebuilt SD40-3s of mixed heritage await rebuild or parting out.

A deadline of power leased and owned by the Iowa Railroad Company sits in the former N&W yard in Council Bluffs. The GP28's would go to the Kyle RR, and I'm guessing that many of the remaining units were cut up.

The tunnel motor deadline in Carthage, MO. We received two BPRR SD40T-2's to replace the SD45T-2's, however 3302 came in with issues so it doesn't look like we will be keeping it. MNA 7000 is waiting to be moved to the lift track where they can do some servicing on the trucks.
Providence and Worcester Railroad road freight WONR is at MP 43 on the Norwich Branch mainline, the historic Norwich and Worcester Railroad which opened through here in 1840. They are heading back south 40 miles to their home terminal of Plainfield, CT after making a turn up to Worcester put have paused here to pull and spot Impact Plastics less than a half mile to the north and will pause again just ahead to work International Paper before continuing south.
Leading the way are four four motor GEs, two in Genesee and Wyoming orange and two in original PW red and brown. 3910 on the point is an ex LMX General Electric B39-8E, part of a group of 102 built in 1987-88 for GE's leasing arm and immediately put on long term lease to Burlington Northern. PW picked up six of them around 2001, but this particular one came to the road later as a replacement for 3908 that was damaged in 2019. 3910 looks fresh because it was only just renumbered and painted in June 2022. Prior to that it still wore LMX gray and its original number, 8534, as an RLCX and then NREX lease unit before spending some time in the Silvis deadline.

Amid deadlines of SD70M's at Congress Yard in central Houston, this pair of SD62's still looks pretty good. Both built as SD60's, these units were modified to become SD62's in 2015 and 2014, respectively. The SD62 modification features a relocated control stand, new speedometer, and rear-facing ditchlights to better facilitate long hood forward operation. In 2019, UP 2178 was rebuilt at North Little Rock with a new computer and electronics, which changed its designation to SD62E.

Have always loved these old Gothic cemetery fences. They form a very hard delineation between the land of the living and the dead. The iron scrollwork seems to blend perfectly with the spear-like tips of the finials. The orderly spacing of the uprights is suggestive of prison cell bars. And black paint completes the effect of harshness and despair. These fences were born in an era where death was not sugar coated with euphemisms. The message is unambiguous and uncompromising, utterly lacking in nuance.
Ontario Northland RS10 1401 awaits her fate in the deadline outside the shops at North Bay, Ontario on June 10, 1994.

I'm making some great life decisions as the time I started building was yesterday, wise me luck in this mad journey :P
2004-2012 or so had a lot of good power and saw a lot of different types of locos awaiting resale and most awaiting their death. Here two OCRR RS18U's sit outside the wheel shop awaiting that day to come for them.
NJ Transit's E8A fleet numbered 26 units in all, including 20 ex-Penn Central units NJDOT received from Conrail, all for the South Amboy to Bay Head Junction service on the New York & Long Branch line. Daily operations required six to seven pairs of the cab units, and borrowed E8s from Conrail supplemented the fleet, followed by a half dozen ex-Southern E8s. One unit that made the roster but never got to play was No. 4270, originally PRR 5805A. The unlucky covered wagon is seen parted-out and rusting away at the Raritan yard on 13 August 1987, with time running out on its long delayed but ultimate fate of scrapping.
Ever wonder why you don't see many SD70MAC's on BNSF any more? Here's part of the reason.
Over 100 SD70MAC's are stored (I presume most of them are LUGO) at Donkey Creek waiting for an uptick in coal traffic that will probably never come. I wonder if they'll find a buyer or just sit until the price of scrap goes up enough to make it worth cutting them up. Thoroughly flogged after over 20 years in coal service they'll probably be traded in when the time comes for more power. A few MAC's have been upgraded to MACe status with new electronics but there's no evidence right now that it will be a continuing project.
So many deadlines and things I have to do rather than want to do...it's nice to take a break and play with colors and textures.

An assortment of surplus UP power sits dormant in the yard at Ogden. Most of these engines are Dash 8s that were likely never to run again.
Call it the most anticipated “kiss” in Copenhagen’s history. After years of delays, the Inner Harbor Bridge (Inderhavnsbro) opened at last. The bridge—which connects the centre of the Danish capital with more residential neighborhoods such as Christianshavn and Holmen—was scheduled for completion in February 2013. But a series of setbacks—including engineering errors and the bankruptcy of its first financial backer—saw the deadline repeatedly extended. For months, the incomplete sections of the bridge jutted out from opposite sides of the harbor, like lovers straining to smooch. That earned the bridge a cute nickname: the Kissing Bridge (Kyssebroen).
Little wonder that city officials were in ebullient mood when the bridge opened on July 7, 2016. “It has been chaotic, confusing and ugly,” the city’s deputy mayor for technical affairs, Morten Kabell, told the Danish newspaper Politiken. “But now it’s done, and I think all Copenhageners have been looking forward to this day, when we can finally put our bridge to use.”
The bridge—which is 180 meters long, eight meters wide, and one of three inner harbor bridges—will allow pedestrians and cyclists alike to zip from postcard-pretty Nyhavn to the canals of Christianshavn and beyond. It also helps cement Copenhagen’s reputation as the world’s best city for cyclists. Other recent infrastructure upgrades include the serpentine Cycle Snake (Cykelslangen) and Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson’s Circle Bridge (Cirkelbroen).
