Deadline Falls, Oregon, is the largest of several small cascades where the North Umpqua River cascades over and through small outcrops of basalt riverbed. The falls are not the most impressive waterfall in the region, and wouldn't usually be an attraction in this neck of the woods, except for the high likelihood of seeing large Salmon leaping the falls as they migrate upstream. From May to October you'll most likely see fish jumping and splashing around in the pools below the falls.

Apologies again for not being very active. I have a lot of assessment deadlines this month so I won't be around very much...

The deadlines at NRE's Silvis facility are still pretty colorful, despite shrinking with the scrapper's torch. The facility is set to close this spring and what doesn't get moved out will be scrapped on site.

Crazy Mountain Range in the distance.

3-21-99

Lots o' BNSF locomotives and paint schemes among the Northtown dead line in Minneapolis. Among the bunch is BNSF 2832 with a stylish EMD GP30 body design, now designated as a GP39-2R. It started its life out as CBQ 976. The sky is filled with smoke from western wildfires and left the landscape over the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota with haze for days.

Off we travelled to Shuswap Lake, where we were once again treated to another pleasant evening. This time, the lake was still and coated in a somewhat lavender color, as reflected from the sky. A rocky perch allowed me some height and the ability to include shore line rocks in the foreground.

Those distant mountains had been toyed with throughout the day with various, big fluffy clouds. When the chance to capture them rose, it had me trading an equally opportunistic scene at Copper Island. However, it has been shot before in all kinds of weather, and this is a prospect less likely encounted.

What future awaits this child? Live for 6 months in a field of stones under tarps that do not isolate nor cold nor heat nor ls terrible rains in the area! Winter comes, it's getting cold and these people have no deadlines, no answers ... Do not do miracles but if we can do that is more than what we do

After days of staring at screens and chasing deadlines, I needed a reset. So, I grabbed my camera and made my way to the rocky beach, hoping the sunset would offer something worth capturing. As I set up my shot, the sky was already shifting—warm tones spilling over the water, the pier stretching out like a quiet path into the evening. The textured rocks in the foreground added depth, framing the scene just right. More than just a photo, this was a moment to breathe—to slow down and take in something real before heading back to the noise of work.

New Brunswick Southern Ry train number 121 enroute from Saint John, NB to McAdam, NB breaks the afternoon silence passing through the town of Tracy, NB with SD40-2 8145 leading SD70M-2's 6407-6409 trailing. Here, train 121 with paper, lumber and intermodal traffic hugs the North Oromocto River before disappearing into the deep woods. The days are numbered for the NBSR 8145 with the impending arrival of the next batch of "new" SD70's more than likely it will join the other stored older EMD's in the St. John deadline. When I got my first digital camera in 2006, the newest engines roaming the NS system were these SD70M-2s. Within the past few years, they've quickly disappeared as NS has finally ended its aversion to AC traction and traffic levels have sunk systemwide. Here at Roanoke a significant portion of the fleet is seen rotting away on storage tracks.
