Symbols and patches.....sigh. In the concentration camps, different groups of people had different patches. A yellow star for jews, a red one for political prisoners etc. The lila one ,was for the 6000 Jehovah's witnesses.
Got sucked into the whole royal wedding thing,Had a few drinks and this is as good as it gets today for me. tut, tut.
Trying to hide the imperfections of old age, but show off my new glasses! ps I have stopped paying money to have my hair coloured, the highlights now go all the way to the roots!!
For 365 : 2019 Day29
Take a feather, water and glycerin then add a little sunrise and tada, you get a feathery dream.
Shot with my kit lens + 7mm & 14mm extension tubes.
This simple sign caught my eye because 365 is truly a familiar word to me.

Happy Friday, Flickr!! This mommy is in much need for some girl time!! The local mom club here is doing a pub crawl tonight and I'm super excited to get out of the house. Never been to one before so it should be interesting...and I'm doing photos for the group...woo hoo!!
Nothing too creative today. I really wanted to do some more strobist stuff so I broke out the speedlight for some splash shots.

This is also this week’s theme on USK Flickr, so I sketched from life this time and did day 29 way early!
Day 29/365: 2015
I was getting really desperate today as I was running out of time when I saw my son's poker set. I tried taking a pic of the chips but wasn't happy with it so ended up using the dice.
I'm not around much at the moment so I'm afraid I will probably have to post my daily pic and run. I'll catch up as soon as I can though.
Experimenting with bokeh shots. I still need a lot of direction and patience, but it's fun to try! This is in my family room at school where we have Christmas lights up all year round. They look quite pretty.

Having never been a grandmother, I had no idea a year ago how deep my love would be for this little one. He brings a light into my life that glows strong, helping me get through the craziness of the world. He brings me to my knees, literally, as I crawl around chasing him, reading to him, and building colorful block towers, so he can knock them over. We dance, we sing, we take walks, we snuggle, we watch out the window, and every day I spend with him, he teaches me something new.

No Doubt
Once was a magical place
Over time it was lost
Price increased the cost
Now the fortune of the kingdom
Is locked up in its dungeon vaults
The castle floor lies in traps
With coiled wires set back
Decoyed by the old cheese
Now the drawbridge has been lifted
As the millions
They drop to their knees
They pay homage to a king
Whose dreams are burried
In their minds
His tears are frozen stiff
Icicles drip from his eyes
The cold wind blows as it snows
On those who fight to get in
On heads that are small
Disillusioned as they enter
They're unaware what's
Behind castle walls
But now it's written in stone
The king has been overthrown
By jesterly fools
And the power of the people
Shall come to believe they do rule
They pay homage to a king
Whose dreams are buried
In their minds
His tears are frozen stiff
Icicles drip from his eyes
Welcome to the tragic kingdom
Cornfields of popcorn
Have yet to spring open
Have they lost their heads
Or are they just all blind mice
We've heard all their stories
One too many times
Hypnotized by fireflies
That glow in the dark
Midgets that disguise themselves
As tiny little dwarves
The parade that's electrical
It serves no real purpose
Just takes up a lot of juice
Just to impress us
They pay homage to a king
Whose dreams are burried
In their minds
His tears are frozen stiff
Icicles drip from his eyes
Ohh, they drip from his eyes
Into the night
They drip from his eyes
Welcome to the tragic kingdom
Cornfields of popcorn
Have yet to spring open
I'm sorry, I know none of you needed to see that.
But then again, I do love my computer! How did I survive without this beautiful piece of machinery before? Feels like i'm living in the future now.
Does this qualify me for nerd status?
Day 29/365
Another shot which has been done a lot but i thought i would try something slightly different with the selective colouring and reflection of yours truly. It isnt exactly how i want it so i may try this again later but unfortunately im short of time today, as they always say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, (Or photographer)
Have a good weekend

20180129_8924_EOS M-24 Waimakariri River mouth and rays (029/365) [Explored]
Another morning fishing at Kairaki (the Waimakariri River mouth). A few Kahawai were caught (I managed just one) and the bloke second from right (Will from Russia) got a nice 7kg (15lb) Chinook Salmon, and one of the anglers further down caught a 9-10kg (estimated weight based on size) Yellowtail Kingfish (Southern Yellowtail Amberjack - Seriola lalandi) on his salmon lure.
That is the first Kingie I have personally seen landed here although I have heard reports of a few being caught over the years, including two in one afternoon back in 2012 or 2013.
Kingies here are a product of our warmer than usual sea temperatures - up between 4° and 6°C over last summer.
Also a possible reason for a slow start to the salmon run - it is too warm for them, although a few stragglers are coming into the river.

Reminded me of limes.......
Thank you for your visit, faves and comments.
Inspired by (but obviously not a patch on) this by ArchedRoof, I decided to take a load of photos today at work using my silent point-and-shoot Nikon Coolpix L10. Having seen the results I can totally see why I want to escape my boring workplace!
We went out for dinner last night near the water front, after a few glasses of wine and a lovely meal we headed over to the river so I could take a few shots.
I'm really pleased with results as I had no tripod and the bridge was bendy so there was a great deal of motion caused by people walking past. What I'm happiest about though is the fact that it turned out at all considering the amount of wine I'd drunk.

I took this picture at 2 pm o clock.
a couple of hours after it started rain cats and dogs.
I'm methereopatic and I hate rain. and I know the fall is just started, but I already miss the sunshine :°(
