American Oystercatcher (Haematopus pallitus) on Island Two (North Thimble) of the CBBT. Not the sharpest picture, but I posted this to put a plug in for the American Oystercatcher Band Database: amoywg.org/banding-re-sighting/
If you report banded Oystercatchers you can learn about their history and travels. For example, Black CF, pictured above, was banded in 2007 on Fisherman's Island and has been reported in a variety of locations around Virginia Beach. Although the bird seems to like to hang out close to home, it took at least one junket to Florida (in 2012).

Finally, note what appears to be a double pupil in this bird's eye. Per Lindsay Addison, a coastal biologist who works on the Oystercatcher project, this fleck occurs in other Oystercatcher species as well and is more common in females.

I'm not a huge fan of the TV Licensing Authority (although I love the fact that the licence means that UK TV is far from rubbish), but I do like their current run of adverts. Monitoring clean drinking water through technology and open data
Right now, in Tanzania, more individuals have access to a mobile phone than a safe water source. mWater leverages this mobile technology and open data to simplify the work of water quality testing and allow people to easily find the safest water sources near them. mWater’s mobile app uses the onboard cameras on mobile phones to automatically detect colonies of coliform and E. coli bacteria that are grown on test plates from water samples. The water quality data that is collected is instantly analyzed and shared with local communities through a mapped database of water sources.
