Okay before you start asking me or telling me about the movie...I am NOT a Star Wars fan. I know this make-up would suggest otherwise, but trust me, if the world were depending on me to answer a quiz question about what happened in this movie, we would be screwed.

My brother used to work as the manager of Borders (long before it went down) and as part of the perks of being the manager, they got to keep all the music you heard playing on the speakers in store and all the movie posters and stuff once they were done with whatever promotion. I loved him working there because not only did I get to use his discount which doubled at Christmas, but he would bring home cases of CDs and boxes of posters. One particular day, he came home with about 30 Star Wars mini posters and this was one of them.

I love face paint. Around Halloween each year, after it ends, I hit up the last minute bin sales and grab all the paint I can. I'm all about transforming my face into something different because having taken so many pictures of my normal face in my 365's past, it gets boring, so I have to find ways to make it interesting, and this is one of the ways.

This took about 20 minutes to apply. I used obviously red and black paint, and 2 paint brushes, one with a small tip, and the other with a flat tip. I probably could have smoothed this out a lot more than I did, but I do it more for fun and less about the fine details of perfecting the look.

This has been an absolute blast to do, one of the rare projects where I play with the actual Lego and dive back into Studio when it’s all done. I think I’ve managed to improve the proportions, the lower half of the ball now looks more rounded, the wings have a very subtle curve, the nose is a bit sleeker with that area in front of the ball slimmed down to something much less bulky.

.

The ship is still solid and swooshable, the droid-dropping feature is gone but there’s still space for a couple of the droids and the cockpit will still hold Maul on his little hovering Sith Vespa thing.

Best of all, no extra pieces required 😊

These pictures are from my Ebay auctions. My hard drive crashed, so I lost all of the original photos.

Ray is such a nice guy! Not like Darth Maul at all.
