Revisiting my folder from the trip down the inlet to Barkley Sound. I like the composition of this shot, but found the original somewhat boring. After several experiments, I chose this one due to the blue inkblot effects and the fact that I managed to retain some of the green of the tree while getting the blue into the rest of the pic. Posting the original below.

Shot these four champagne flutes in the home studio. Did a tilt and reversed the angle on the last, red one. Enhanced in PSE9.
I'm quite busy today and haven't got a chance to take any new photos yet.
Here is a quick flower upload. I quite like this complicated flower.. :)
This has to be the worlds coolest mini-car. Belongs to a neighbor of ours and will hit a top speed of 35 mph. Went to VooDoo Larry's open house with BFF's Brian and Liz. Had a really great time and took bunch of pics for first time this year. Used my 10-22mm wide the whole day which was a lot of fun..

I thought quite a bit today about this question. What is the difference between a photograph, a good photograph and a great photograph. Obviously there are things that can improve any photograph, rule of thirds, proper exposure, leading lines, focus on the subject, elimination of distracting objects, etc. But I feel that it is so much more than that. All those things turn a photograph into a good photograph, i think a great photograph can capture the personality or style of the photographer as well. I thought about this this weekend when 4 great photographers set up their gear all in a line with virtually the same equipment, shooting the sunset in the smokies. I also knew that each one of those people would put their own stamp on that image. I always like seeing someone who can shoot something that has been done a million times but can do it differently than all those others. I also like seeing a thumbnail, photo, or group of photos and can tell that is a friends because i can tell by the style, by the processing, by the mood. So to me a good photograph has used some elements of skill to advance it from just a photograph to a good photograph but a great photograph captures the essence of the scene in front of the camera and the essence of the photographer behind it. Your thoughts?
I loved this the moment I saw it -- one petal that is different! Seen at St. Matthew's Church in Abbotsford, British Columbia. This is a Hulin's Carnival Dahlia. (10-09-22-5270)
Smiling because so far the Mayans are wrong...and happy that we can march to the beat of a different drummer if we want to. Have a great Friday and Happy First Day of Winter (or summer if in the south).
dislike- it's amazing what desperation forces you to upload

I had an idea for an image to convey the concept of being different, to stand out from the crowd; A green tomato amongst all the red ones. But since making the image I've thought "Slow Starter" would also be a very appropriate title.
A single candle clings on and burns brightly after all those around it have gone out!
Aside from endurance this image could mean lots of things. I considered giving it the title "Last Light" as a twist on the usual meaning of the phrase, which often refers to the time after sunset, when the last bit of brightness is in the sky.
Another obvious meaning is about daring to be different, and standing out from the crowd. To be a shining light in this dark world! :-)
