This pigeon was doing his mating dance to a nearby female who was totally unimpressed with his antics!
Dancers need:
a good sense of rhythm and timing
motivation, talent and creativity
good general health and excellent physical fitness
to work well in a team
to love movement, music and performing.
I’ve noticed before that if you find some specular highlights and point a camera at them then wiggle you get some interesting script-like marks on the exposure. I first found them with sunlight on droplets.
It turned out the sea was even better, partly because of the profusion of highlights but also because they were a lot further away and so easier to keep a lot of them in focus.
This one was part of a series taken on the South coast here recently. It occurred to me later that being South-facing was helpful too as it places the light in the right place for this sort of thing. I seem rarely to get to the coast so much fun was had with the camera…
There are two troupes of dancers here - the sea and the surf. The camera was wobbled with jiggle and a little bit of twist.
Thanks for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy 100x :)
Dance and ballet photography in the studio has the difficulty of being able to show the movement typical of dance. Here, it is the skirt that reflects the movement, her turn around in waves.
Tanz und Ballettfotografie im Studio bringt die Schwierigkeit mit sich, die Dynamik der Bewegung schwerer zeigen zu können. Die Wellen im Rock drücken hier aus, was die Tänzerin durch eine Drehung gemacht hat.

Spectacular display of the Aurora Borealis over floating icebergs in Jökulsárlón Lagoon, Iceland. Lit by a half-moon.
Back to the coast, I had planned
on going to Corfe castle this morning as the weather forecast predicted a strong chance of mist but as I got closer to my destination I could see no mist. Plan B was to go to a place I had been to once during the summer in the middle of the day. Climbing down on to Dancing Ledge while it was still dark was going to be a bit of a challenge.
A beautiful artistic montage using paint, collage and other techniques. Spotted in the window of a seaside hairdresser, this work caught the sun and beckoned the passing photographer... of which I was one.
Très beau montage artistique fait de peinture, collage et autres techniques. Aperçu dans la vitrine d’un coiffeur de bord de mer, cette oeuvre prenait le soleil et appelait le photographe de passage… dont je fus.

'Het Speulderbos' is called ' the forest of the dancing trees'. The forest is not just mysterious, it is also very rare. It's a paradise for birds (of prey), deer, badgers and wild boars. So there is enough choice to have a good time!
Another variation of a wonderful old stairway made of stone. I found this architectonical gem in France, Alsace. Looking up to the the window in the upper end, it seems to be a modern combination of circles.
Laila dancing... I think she's doing the Black Bottom or the Shimmy (both are dances from the 20's).
This was fun to do, and a bit scary XD The mister took the pics while I posed her and then stayed nearby each time to catch her if she tried to fall (which she did try to do several times!). These were inspired by her new dress :) I've wanted this dress for ages and I'm so glad I finally have a girl it fits. I even found a pic in one of my pattern catalogues from the 20's that looks basically just like this dress <3
A dance at the Angel Manor, only there you can find places that are so amazingly full of that gorgeous mood!
The picture is unedited, that is what you will be able to experience,.

Come and visit:
Dancing Houses at the top of Damrak, Amsterdam
Unlike most people, this was actually one of the last shots I took in Amsterdam. I tried to get a cartoony look and used a polariser and 20s exposure to give plenty of light and saturation while keeping a glassy reflection on the water. The cyans in the sky remind me of The Simpsons which I think helps a little.
I'd love to create a dark, gothic Tim-Burton-esque version of this at night and contrast it against this shot, but that's a plan for another visit
A Hyperbolic Paraboloid
After a lot of puzzling it worked!

WIT: I wanted to try the Pep Ventosa method of photo processing - it's where you use several images taken at slightly different angles, up to 360 degrees, and then stack them together in layers in Photoshop. Using different types of treatments, like overlay and screen in the different layers, and masking in and out certain parts in the different layers, I came up with this abstraction of a street statue of ballet dancers.
earlier this week many neighboring fjords had amazing aurora while we were under dense coastal fog — but it finally has cleared again and they are still dancing around — not THE brightest, but so lovely over a moonlit landscape…

I came across this theatre in Cuba, and when I went in there were dance rehearsals going on. No-one paid any attention to me, so I was able to take some photographs there.
I have to search for a better image of her dancing dress. She wore her mom's wedding dress for the ceremony and the reception and then changed into this one. It had some beautiful flowers on it and a Dr. Suess quality that was fabulous and fun and she always looked like she was having a great time.
Sensational Saturday to you.

Yesterday I went on a little tour for taking macro pictures and sunsets with my neutral density filter. It worked very well so you'll definitely get a sunset picture soon :D
I hope you like this photo - I tried something new as you can see ;)
It's always good to have a lamp in the darkness ;)
