We are not professional dancers, but with the help of a choreographer, we secretly learned the dance to Time after Time from Romy & Michele's High School Reunion and performed it with our friend David. It was our favorite part of the whole wedding process!

Bharatanatyam, a pre-eminent Indian classical dance form presumably the oldest classical dance heritage of India is regarded as mother of many other Indian classical dance forms. Conventionally a solo dance performed only by women, it initiated in the Hindu temples of Tamil Nadu and eventually flourished in South India. Theoretical base of this form traces back to ‘Natya Shastra’, the ancient Sanskrit Hindu text on the performing arts. A form of illustrative anecdote of Hindu religious themes and spiritual ideas emoted by dancer with excellent footwork and impressive gestures its performance repertoire includes nrita, nritya and natya. YAVORIV, Ukraine -- Ukrainian dancers perform July 8 during Rapid Trident 2013’s opening ceremony. Rapid Trident 2013 is a U.S. Army Europe-led, multinational field training and command post exercise occurring at the International Peacekeeping and Security Center in Yavoriv, Ukraine July 8-19 that involves approximately 1,300 troops from 17 nations. The Fingernail Dance is performed on special occasions such as the welcoming of guests or important events in Buddhism. The movements of the dance imitate elephants walking, which in days of old were considered to be valuable animals of higher class.

The Christopher Watson Dance Company presents the 10th Annual Dances at the Lakes Festival - two FREE concerts in the Rose Garden at Lake Harriet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11. This unique festival brings together professional dancers and youth companies performing a wide variety of concert dance styles. This year the festival features nearly 100 dancers performing in the 14 dance groups performing in the two shows. Audience members are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket and some snacks or a picnic dinner and enjoy the unique opportunity of seeing dance performed in the beautiful setting of the Rose Garden.
