The L.A. Contemporary Dance Company (LACDC) is a non-profit organization and a resident repertory dance company of Los Angeles. LACDC is recognizable by the community as a source of professional and innovative concert dance performing a diverse repertoire of modern, ballet and jazz influenced works representing the vibrant culture of L.A. By affording choreographers and dancers the opportunity to create concert length work in an experimental and collaborative environment, LACDC hopes to foster the development of new forms in the contemporary dance genre relevant to audiences.
LACDC was co-founded by Kate Hutter (Artistic Director) and Michelle Mierz (Executive Director) in the Fall of 2003. What originally began as a class project at the University of Southern California has now expanded into a professional dance company. Since its incorporation in May of 2005, LACDC has had a successful reception of their work at a variety of venues throughout Los Angeles including their resident space - the Brockus Project Space in the Brewery Arts Complex of downtown L.A., the Ford Amphitheatre, The Broad Stage, L.A. County Museum of Art, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Nate Holden Performing Arts Center and Highways Performance Space.
LACDC has self-produced work as well as participated in a number of festivals over the past three years, providing the opportunity to collaborate with more than 75 different artists including dancers, choreographers, composers, designers, photographers, filmmakers and educators. LACDC is excited to continue engaging artists in thoughtful and inspired creative processes, and serving the community with inviting and invigorating dance experiences including performances, classes and educational workshops.

Here is another one of my professional dance shots. I just love this image, especially the gorgeous color and stage lighting on the face of the dancer. It's a directly out of camera shot with no processing - taken with my Nikon D750 and 70-200 F2.8 VR2 @ 1/500th and ISO 3200.
Sometimes I have the luxury of working at ISO 3200 if the stage is reasonably well lit and the dance is moderately paced, as was the case here. It's just an evocative, special image. I hope you agree.
As for the Nikon D750 - it's a brilliant camera. Image quality is wonderful and @ ISO 3200 the image is practically noise free.
My three primary issues with the D750 are:
1. The reprogrammed video record button next to the shutter release is almost flush with the camera body. It's very easy to miss it or mistakenly select the meter mode button instead, especially in a darkened auditorium. Nikon has corrected this issue with a more dedicated ISO button next to the shutter release on the D5, D500 and D850, none of which I can afford at this time.
2. The buffer is nothing special. High speed continuous is 6 FPS and lasts a few seconds before the buffer runs out. It's not quite enough for what I need.
3. Why restrict shutter speed to 1/4000th? That's just deliberately and gratuitously mean spirited for the sake of marketing. Karma. It kind of backfired on Nikon with the D750. It's still an amazing camera and ISO 12800 looks beautiful. And you can set instant recall states which the pro bodies can't.
