Meet Raini Aamai, a neighbor from my hometown. At the age of 75, I captured her in a snapshot of her daily life. She lived in our rural community, taking on all the household tasks. Every morning, she set out to cut grass and care for the animals, keeping her day filled with hard work. What struck me most was the abundance of wrinkles on her face, which was uncommon for someone her age. She had also lost most of her teeth. To me, it was a reminder of the enduring physical labor she had undertaken throughout her life. The lines on her face tell the story of her life's challenges. However, despite it all, her smile conveyed a world of meaning.
While I generally prefer reading books, sometimes I find it more enlightening to read people's faces. There's so much to learn there.
When I returned to my hometown, I gifted her a large print of this photograph that I had taken back. Her joy upon receiving it was truly heartwarming.

On a Saturday morning, a woman was showing her respect to a sacred Peepal tree. In Nepal, people believe the Peepal tree is holy. They think that if you worship it, especially on Saturdays, it will bring goodness. During this worship, they give water to the tree and tie threads around it. If you look at a Peepal tree, you'll often see many threads tied to it. I appreciate how people find the presence of the divine in everything around them and show their respect by taking care of it.
