SAGINAW— Students from Nouvel Catholic Central Elementary in Saginaw and Blessed Sacrament Elementary in Midland gathered at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption on Friday for the annual back-to-school Mass with Bishop Joseph Cistone. In years past, Bishop Cistone has traveled to each of the diocese's 13 Catholic schools to celebrate Mass with students and teachers. This year, they are traveling to the newly-renovated cathedral. Following Mass, Bishop Cistone taught students about some of the features and art found in the cathedral. Catholic school leaders, teachers and staff are committed to excellence in faith formation, academics, the arts, athletics and community service. Catholic schools of the Diocese of Saginaw enroll nearly 2,300 students. Our schools have a 99 percent graduation rate, and 94 percent go on to college.
