This is my second post today. Since we haven't had much snow I have been going through the archives and I am amazed at how many images I never processed.

Driving home for weekend

I took this going 70mph down the interstate "in the passenger seat". This is Kingston fossil plant just outside of Kingston TN near Knoxville and is also a popular location for bird watchers.

Our first day in Arizona was winding down. After check-in at our B&B, we decided to stretch our legs for a bit and catch a Southwest sunset.

Let me know in the comments if you can spot Coffee Pot Rock.

Sometimes I like to take pictures out of the car window. (Passenger side). I think I was trying to take a picture of a train but then this tree got in the way. I really like the way this turned out.

Just a few textures on this one.

Met up with my daughter, yesterday, for a bit of exploring. We hit up Salvation Mountain, Bombay Beach, the sand dunes near Glamis, and, finally, Yuma, Arizona for dinner at Burgers & Beer. It was a long day, but we had a great time!

We were going to see a movie, but didn't want to wait around until dark.

no matter what you drive...drive yourself happy

An old Chevrolet pickup sitting behind a farm shed in Iowa. Detail and color enhanced in photoshop.

I really liked the steampunk/cyberpunk look of this vehicle and the bemused look of the cyclist.

Turns out there's an interesting story behind it but you'll have to visit this place to learn more:

Carriage Drive in Cassiobury Park, late Autumn.

Hmmm.. parking lots are full. Must be a good movie! :)

A Red-Winged Blackbird took exception to a couple of trumpeter swans getting too close to his mate's nest. It's not the size of the bird in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the bird. The swans were not liking it, snapping at the RWB viciously, but moved on. No one was hurt, just educated. It was great fun to watch the interaction.

This is scenic Talimena Drive which goes east-west from Talihina, Oklahoma to Mena, Arkansas. This is a scan of a 35mm color slide that was shot on October 5, 2002 on Kodak Elitechrome Extra Color 100. A Nikkor 50mm f1.8 lens was used with a polarizer.

Karen and I found this old Drive In Theater in Daingerfield. It was so grown up I almost didn't recognize what it was. Of course when I did we had to go exploring.

One thing I noticed a lot while I was in the US was how many drive thrus there are, everything from fast food to ATMs. Quite bizarre to see this drive thru liquor store with all the anti-drink and drive messages we get bombarded with in the UK!

Cattle drive moving cows from high pasture (about 7000 feet) to lower one just in the nick of time. South Eastern Utah.

Nothing makes me feel like a little kid again more than going somewhere with Mom and Dad. I sit in the back seat and watch them while we drive along. Me, just waiting to get where we are going. I guess I should enjoy this......there will come a time when I will drive them to where we are going and it will be one of them in the back. But for now, I just sit back there and try not to feel to young.

I haven't been to a zoo since March, but both of the zoos where I volunteer are now offering drive-through experiences. Guests remain in their cars, see the animals, and hear presentations.

I wonder what the animals think of that!
