Walking through a forest, I came upon an area covered with these ferns and the magical feel and beauty really captured my eye.
I learned that Dryopteris intermedia is a common species within its range of eastern North America, nevertheless I thought the scene I had encountered right then was very special and I tried to convey the atmosphere in this shot I took. I fancy it would have made a good resting place. Soft, welcoming and peaceful.
Fronds grow to around 90 cm in length and 20 cm wide. Frond leaflets are lobed and toothed. Sori (fruit dots, as seen here) appear on the leaflet undersides on fertile fronds in early to mid-summer.

Here is another shot along the river bank that I chose to show in black and white. I was afraid that people might think I was trying to show bleakness again and my "I'm done with winter" sentiments. While I am tired of winter that was not the focus of this shot. I won't say what I was trying to express but let you take from it what you will. :-)

A bit different with the processing on this one...mostly due to the extreme shadows and highlights. I decided to do something different and embrace the chaos. I quite like the result, but prefer a nice overcast day for woodland and water...Turkish clear blue sky and blazing summer sun are not exactly the ideal conditions. Take what you get
On a cold, windy day such as we have here today, even a simple display of green and colour (other than white!) would be nice.

A nice afternoon at the caste Neuschwanstein. In the back the Forgensee. When you pass the famous view from Marienbrücke and walk some hundred meters up the mountain you find this phantastic natural viewing platform forbidden to step on.
