This origami dodecahedron folded by Jefa from a design by Tom Hull is composed of 12 pentagon faces and a total of 30 edges from 30 of his PHiZZ modular units.
The name for this modular unit stands for Pentagon Hexagon Zig-Zag unit. It is especially good for making large objects, since the locking mechanism is so strong.

The last holdouts from three solid months of Blythe-a-Daying (Ginger, Smyth, Jones and Teddy, Starr, Sundari, Lulu, Dusty and Rusty) and this month's host, Pascal are exhausted and ready to return to their various domains.
We have thoroughly enjoyed playing with you all this month as you so joyously met the numerical challenges and look forward to seeing you all next month (that's tomorrow) in Foxy Belle's May Group,
The new 12-sided £1 coin rolled along for this week's Macro Mondays theme.
A bi-metallic design, displaying an English rose, a Welsh leek, a Scottish thistle and an Irish shamrock, the new £1 coin was Introduced on 28 March 2017. Now in a six month period when the old round £1 coin and the new 12-sided £1 coin are in circulation at the same time. In geometry, a dodecahedron (Greek δωδεκάεδρον, from δώδεκα dōdeka "twelve" + ἕδρα hédra "base", "seat" or "face") is any polyhedron with twelve flat faces. The most familiar dodecahedron is the regular dodecahedron, which is a Platonic solid.
Twelve rings, each representing a section of a cone, sliced perpendicular to the axis. PDF for those who want to try it at home.
From 12 pentagonal rosettes and 10 strips of copy paper.
My design, so far.
Rosettes can be ditched to create a sphere only from 10 strips. You need paperclips and it is quite a mess.
Rosettes will hold the paper for you and make the assembly fool-proof.

Second attempt at dodecahedron from Thomas Hull's PHiZZ units, this time from 3.5 inch note paper. I started this while watching TV and left the nearly finished one on my keyboard when I went to bed.
Following Kwangwook Hur idea, but without glue.
Paper: kraft simil, 1 cm wide strips.
Using 6 modules joints designed by Heinz Strobl for tthe outer joints. Kwangwook link:

Кстати, я вроде такой сборки в 90-модульник (тройки-десятки) раньше не видела. Или просто не обращала внимания...

A regular dodecahedron made from Penultimate Unit, designed by Robert Neale. These units are very simple to fold and very versatile (see the tutorial I published on March 16th, 2024).
I modified David Mitchell's modules and folded them from fake 5,000 Yen notes. David's modules are folded from Silver rectangles. I simply folded away the shorter sides of the Fake 5.000 Yen notes into Silver Rectangles. The rest of the folds are the same.

This one made it into The LEGO® Movie in a very prominent shot. LEGO® also made a copy for display at The LEGO® Movie Experience at LEGOLAND California.
Modeled in TopMod. Sub-divided in meshlab to save time. For some reason meshlab can sub-divide in less than a second when TopMod takes 5 or more minutes. Rendered in Sunflow.

All of the gears rotate together but there is a LOT of resistance. Actually turned out kind of pretty. After building it I found a much better version in the second half of this YouTube video www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWWaMa4YjHs . AEH5040, www.youtube.com/channel/UC_u33rKRH2QkBF7TMHISWdQ , has a whole bunch of great Technic creations that put mine to shame.

All art is but imitation of nature.-- Seneca (Letters from a Stoic - Letter LXV: On the First Cause)
The universe itself is God and the universal outpouring of its soul. --Chrysippus (Quoted by Cicero in De Natura Deorum)
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells. --To Autumn. by John Keats
Dorset is one of my favourite towns to visit. You have to get to the fire tower early, before the tour buses arrive, but that suits me as I like mornings. I usually park in the public parking in town and hike up to the tower, enjoying the view in the quiet morning. By 9:30 it’s too busy for me, so I head down for breakfast at Zachary's. (Basic cooked breakfast, just the thing for a slightly cool morning, and a nice dining room and friendly staff.)
This is the view from the waterside park. Zachary's is in the yellow building just beyond the gazebo. The boat across the river runs trips to Bigwin Island and around the Lake of Bays.

A number of stacked loops totalling 11km meander through the forest adjacent to St. Nora Lake. This trail system offers a little bit of everything, from millennia old geological formations which give insight into the last significant ice age, to large bogs, towering cliff faces, mixed forests, challenging climbs and spectacular lookouts. Be sure to pack lunch and your camera because you can spend an entire day exploring these trails.
This site is just off the Steep Rock Trail. Just to the left of the small meadow by the red tree there's a campsite. Next year I think I'll camp there. Will need to book it, of course, but imagine waking up in the morning to this!
