I don't do resolutions but as part of the personal development side of karate we are encouraged to write down our goals. Here are mine for 2011. I need to make time for all these things, which are all things for me, but i'm going to be quite busy!
Happy New Year to you all!
For the next few weeks i'll be on vacation abroad.
I'll do my best to keep in touch with everyone....

I am part of a flickr project/flickr group called "The Co Curators' Resource" (see the group concept here: www.flickr.com/groups/curatorsresource/)
I am in the process of curating Irina Souiki's collection of excellent photos. The way I do things, it helps me to immerse myself in looking at her photos all the through - every photo in her stream, then step back and get some perspective from the images. Today, while snarfing espresso and a bagel at a local coffee house (not Starbucks!) I thought I'd write some of my initial impressions and thoughts in my sketchbook ... and along with that made some sketches, from memory, of some of her photos that had really stuck with me. I was trying to find a common thread or concept that I could focus on for the curating project. It's going to take another visit to her photostream before I can come up with my final long list. Then comes the short list. Then trying to write something meaningful about each photo I choose.
I'm having fun getting to know Irina through her photos, understanding her approach to photography and trying to articulate my responses to her imagery. It's a challenge. I hope through this process, to gain some perspective on my own artwork and photography.
This is part of the set, Co-curating Process here:
Very little is known about the organization of the city of Angkor Thom, with its light-weight dwellings. Centered on the Bayon (Central Temple), it was divided into four quarters by four axial roads that were probably bordered by moats. A fifth similar road was set on the axis of the Royal Palace, leading to the east.
Corresponding to these avenues are five monumental gates. From the exterior, the crossing of the moat is made, as previously described, on a causeway. These meditative sculptured faces line the causeway leading up to the gates.
This is an excellent documentary:

Feelings don't die easily because we keep feeding them with memories...that's exactly the reason why it's so hard to move on.

We don´t need to know all the details in the Gaza-Palestine-Israel-conflict to know that what is happening there now is WRONG WRONG WRONG. People have tried before us, and some of us have tried before - still - don´t let apathy rule, don´t let war and violence and evilness win. Give peace a chance, do something!!!!!
Videresender melding fra Mads G. i Gaza... De fleste har vel fått den nå?: De bombet det sentrale grønnsakmarkedet i Gaza by for to timer siden. 80 skadde, 20 drept, alt kom hit til Shifa. Hades! Vi vasser i død. blod og amputanter. Masse barn. Gravid kvinne. Jeg har aldri opplevd noe så fryktelig. Nå hører vi tanks. Fortell videre, send videre, rop det videre. Alt. GJØR NOE! GJØR MER! Vi lever i historieboka nå, alle! Mads G, 3.1.09 13:50, Gaza, Palestina
it has like 250 notes on tumblr, and i only uploaded it yesterday, i don't even know why it has that many notes.
but anyway i'm gonna upload each listography page as i do it, except the personal ones ofc.
And was a serious Excel jockey.
Compare to this.
Without the spatialization of the data, e.g. the abstracted map that Minard uses, the gains in troop numbers during Napoleon's retreat as his ranks re-join are completely inexplicable.
Score one for visualization!

One of my favorite quotes from Soupy. A lot of people find pop punk to be a silly genre of music, and they find no point in getting so interested in it. But I turned to The Wonder Years and tons of other pop punk bands when my life was really fucked up and low. It's this time of music that kept me alive for so long, because this music means something. It means something to the musicians and the fans that adore it. This quote pretty much sums up every reason why I love pop punk so fucking much.
I was invited to contribute to an anthology; two of my short stories (edited for space) have now been "published"... First time! Available on Amazon for $8.96. amzn.com/1500314447
