Grorinchem (Nl) is an old fortified town with a harbour. The river De Linge flows through Gorinchem and outside the city-walls flows the large river Boven-Merwede. Every year there is a day with all kind of activities in and around the port and it is very appropriately called "Gorinchem port day"

After getting up early everyday to look for Otters on the Isle of Mull, I was feeling pretty tired by the last of the holiday. On the last afternoon I fell asleep on the shore, only to wake and see this Great Northern Diver fishing right next to me! I managed to get this head on picture before he continued on fishing along the coast. I hadn't appreciated just how beautiful those big red eyes are. What a fantastic bird!
