Late summer dahlia embracing its natural deconstruction.

I know where this road began and how much my ticket cost. My first step to harissa began in 1977. It was her fault: Claudia Roden and A Book of Middle Eastern Cooking. That book was $3.25; is now disintegrating, the cover held on with sticky tape. I've never really thought it was a cookbook, though it probably could be. There's more a sense of adventures with food and how it might be prepared, eaten and enjoyed. Maybe that is what drew me to Morocco?

Harissa is Tunisian. Don't let that spoil the tale. These chillies are Peruvian, or at least that's their geographical heritage. They grew in my garden. Stumped for a way to conserve and use them, not wanting more chilli jam or all that heat in chiles rellenos I set out to explore the next step on the road to harissa: make your own.

Here they've had an initial charring. The stalks will come out but not the seeds and membranes — it needs to be hot, pedas, not panas as those things are cleverly distinguished in Bahasa Indonesia. With a few more bits and pieces and a blender it'll become a tongue-tingling, membrane-inflaming paste.

Phew, I made it. My work here is done.

Back to an old technique I've not done for a while. Blown out white background with my hand left unexposed, then fill the dead space with the LP Brushes black fibers with a blue gel then a generous waft of the Serpent Blade.

I found this nearly pristine whitetail deer buck skull in the lower woods of the property I reside on here in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley of western Montana. It had all of its teeth intact, and only showed the beginnings of small fractures in the structure that spent a few years alternatingly baking in the sun of the dry, western summers and freezing in the winter temperatures that tickle zero and sub-zero every so often. I suspect that the freezing and thawing, along with other naturally disintegrating forces and factors, are what began to break this skull down over those couple of years.

I brought the skull indoors for about a year, giving it a place of honor on a table, as well as keeping it out of the elements and further decline, and did enjoy studying the structure of it on a very up-close-and-personal basis. Then, this spring, I began a series of skull portraits in and around the property where I found it, although I have removed it to much more scenic locations than where it first was discovered.

I suspect that I will share some of the outtakes from the series in

future posts here on flickr. Certain not a gruesome thing, it is only proof that a grand and wild creature once lived in these parts, as do thousands upon thousands of his brethren. Whitetail deer are ubiquitous here in the west, as they more than likely are in your neck of the woods. Gentle and non-threatening creatures, as long as they do not devour your azaleas or hostas,

they pose no threat whatsoever to man or beast. In fact, they make very good neighbors I should think.

Do watch for them on the road, especially at dusk or at night,

for they are impulsive in their movements across roads they do not understand. And a slowing of speed when driving in their vicinity is also greatly appreciated. By both the deer and your humble photographer.

A new image of the sunward plunging Comet ISON suggests that the comet is intact despite some predictions that the fragile icy nucleus might disintegrate as the Sun warms it. The comet will pass closest to the Sun on November 28.

In this NASA Hubble Space Telescope image taken on October 9, the comet's solid nucleus is unresolved because it is so small. If the nucleus broke apart then Hubble would have likely seen evidence for multiple fragments.

Moreover, the coma or head surrounding the comet's nucleus is symmetric and smooth. This would probably not be the case if clusters of smaller fragments were flying along. A polar jet of dust first seen in Hubble images taken in April is no longer visible and may have turned off.

This color composite image was assembled using two filters. The comet's coma appears cyan, a greenish-blue color due to gas, while the tail is reddish due to dust streaming off the nucleus. The tail forms as dust particles are pushed away from the nucleus by the pressure of sunlight. The comet was inside Mars' orbit and 177 million miles from Earth when photographed. Comet ISON is predicted to make its closest approach to Earth on December 26, at a distance of 39.9 million miles.

On my way out of Florida, taking the road less traveled, I came across this house off FL Hwy 16, west of Glenn Cove Springs. This was just after watching two Manatees in the St. John River feeding near the bank. It wasn't actually that exciting as the water wasn't that clear, so basically I was watching two "humps" moving very slowly. While there, however, a man came by to release a 3 &1/2 foot alligator into the river. It had invaded his swimming pool--not an uncommon experience in Florida--and decided it prudent to remove the reptile before it attempted to remove the toes from his little girls.

Why I believe there is God .

I believe there is God through faith and from experiences big and small beyond reasonable

doubt they were supernatural interventions.By the air I breathe in, there must be God. Observing the complexity of our ecosystem, the symbiotic relationship between animals and plants... just how dead organic bodies disintegrate, broken down through chemical process back to the basic components like carbon etc all of these are wonders to ponder upon and evidence that points to a superb being to have designed everything perfectly. One must be completely blind or in true denial to claim everything happen by accident , c'mon, that we see and experienced are real evidence of the Glory of God in His creations.

God reveals far more His glory if we believe in Him.

Though we are born and raised in a Christian family, baptized in a christian church when we were babies, it is an all out assumption we are already Christians. Unless we truly have accepted Jesus as our personal Lord and saviour , acknowledging our sinful nature and that we need a saviour , we haven't truly taken in Christ in our personal lives, sadly the truth is , it's only a superficial cloak of christian identity on us . God is calling for His people, He wants them to wake up and seek to Him truly, get close to Him, and make Him their only refuge - relationship with God is NOT through legalistic doctrines of salvation through church / religious membership , but rather of a pure relationship with God through Christ in us .Once we have received Christ, the Spirit of God pours inside us that bears witness we are His.Church fellowship is necessary and is called for so Christians will grow and giving one another encouragement in faith.

People who fervently claim God has no son are deceived themselves. Jesus was there in the beginning of creation with God as a God persona, things are made through Him. Read the first chapter of Genesis . Jesus is God born in the flesh to save his creation, otherwise His creation will be destroyed as it was messed up by the fallen ones since the beginning. What Satan wants is to confuse people and made things to contradict. Read Colossians 1:16 too. It clearly states in the beginning Jesus was there in creation of things.

SIGN OF THE TIMES

* 1973 Prophecy - The Vision by David Wilkerson -- No question, Wilkerson's vision of 1973 was made manifest in our times. Example , look at your TV, look at how elements of witchcraft /spells / vampirism so forth ... were accepted and thought were real cool by growing number of people, even declaring themselves witches/vampires in the open. I was once a fanof Harry Potter series, Vampire seres Twilight etc. Look at porn epidemic and think it's normal? Sensuality galore and pictures sexually provoking on TV adverts and billboards etc which seem like they're normal scenes etc - o' sometimes on flickr , surprise, suprise ?

Ritorno con una serie ke prende il nome da un album dei Cure a me molto caro: "Disintegration"..

per cui, se non amate il dark..

Broken, rusted, wrecked, and left to disintegrate into nothing...but, I hope that it has now been found and can be restored to an amazing, like-new show piece worthy of its existance!

This photo was taken in 2013 during my previous Project 365…please visit my album for this “REMASTERED” Project 365 as I revisit each day of 2013 for additional photos to share!!

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D5200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

Disintegration: 30 years today (yesterday). This was the best thing that could happen to The Cure and not exactly the best that could happen to their record label, after the success of "Kiss Kiss Kiss". Songs with two minute instrumental intros?

Every time you get too much (spot)lights, consider going back to a nice sweet shadowed place where you can detoxify and create what you really like. Just as Robert Smith did back in 1989. Maybe the Cure's best album ever. Ok, I don't like to celebrate "days" but May 2nd should be the International Disintegration Day, not only the 500 year anniversary of Leonardo Da Vinci's death...

This series started 24th March 2011 in Germany when I came across a collection of discarded clothes. Local building work on the wasteland location resulted in the disappearance of the first set of clothing. The series restarted in May 2013 in Cumbria, when I discovered a lost pink t-shirt on a temporary car-park. Regular visits to the site allowed me to make more photographs, with the series concluding on July 2nd 2014.

Brutally edited; the images track the gradual disintegration and destruction of lost clothing/fabrics. A narrative initially concerned with loss, oppression, abandonment, desolation and ruin; slowly raised other issues connected to mortality, lifespan and dehumanization by authority and the perpetual fight for self-governance. The series concluded with the continuing process of reclamation with suggestions in regards to the struggle for humanity and the freedom of the individual spirit.

View On Black

"Suddenly, all your history's ablaze

Try to breathe, as the world disintegrates

Just like autumn leaves, we're in for change

Holding tenderly to what remains

And all your memories, are as precious as gold

And all the honey, and the fire which you stole

Have you running through all your red-cheeked days

Shaking loose these souls, from their sacred hiding space

Hold your heart courageously

as we walk into this dark place

Stand, steadfast erect and see

that love is the province of the brave

Pushed under this expanse of bursting stars

Let this burning brightly illuminate the where we are

In this hollow that lovers' voices occupy

Let it follow that we let it free, let it fly

Breaking open the walls of this cage

Intoxicated, oh so amazed

Much like falcons tumbling from the heights at play

Conjoined, talons engaged

Hold these hearts courageously

as we walk into this dark place

Stand, steadfast beside me and see

that love is the province of the brave"

Its October. Autumn is upon us. I'm about to turn 30. Everthing in my life seems to have been going through changes this last year. Sometimes it was hard, lonely and sad, but mostly it was exciting and transformational. I feel stronger, clearer, wiser, more curious, more alive, than ever before in my life. Bring on the next decade, I think I'm ready.

A couple of days after my birthday I am taking a trip to where the leaves change more spectacularly than anywhere else on earth, back to the University of Virginia, my "alma mater". This will be the first time I go to visit since I dropped out in 1997. Ten years have passed, and all that goes with that. I look forward to seeing this place and that part of my history through the looking-glass of who I am today.

Autumn is here. Change is coming.
