Love in our life is just too valuable
Oh, to feel for even a second without it
But life without death is just impossible
Oh, to realize something is ending within us
Feeling yourself disintegrate
Feeling yourself disintegrate...

Sometimes the song inspires the photo; sometimes the photo inspires the song... This is a little bit, actually thousands of little bits of both. ;~)
disintegration - fading civilization
[Polaroid Land Camera 100 / Fuji FP 3000b / from negative / July 2016]
This time of year more than any other my "Marginal" project informs everything else I do. The layering in nature that records a mathematical equation of form over time, compressed in book like form for someone or something to marvel over in a few thousand years time.

Marq was once a guard for the royal family but after an accidental disintegration incident, he had to resort to life as a bounty hunter.
This is the moment when the light is fading
When the sun disintegrates in the sky
Destroyed by the powers of the night...
Vient ce moment où la lumière faiblit
Où le soleil se disintègre, dans le ciel
Vaincu par les pouvoirs de la nuit

Finally got my hands on the battle pack. Still need Zuckuss :c
Was going to just make one but I threw out all my old brushes and I can never find the right one anyways.
The complete life of a soap bubble in below freezing temperatures, from freeze up to disintegration.
I was most challenged this week by the fact that we did the same theme for 2014 and I had no idea what to do for the 2nd go of it. I spent quite a bit of time looking at different photos ideas since I didn't have anything that came to me on my own, and actually may do a 2nd photo as well (as my One gave me the idea for something after I had done this one)... But this photo for me represents that 2014 has flown by and the last little bits are quickly disintegrating. Tomorrow is New Year's Eve already!!

Taking a break from my Madagascar images, I will be uploading a few from my trip to Kenya in 2015. One thing I can say about Kenya, you cannot get as close to the animals as in Madagascar.
Wikipedia -The Somali ostrich (Struthio molybdophanes) also known as the blue-necked ostrich is a large flightless bird native to the Horn of Africa. It was previously considered a subspecies of the common ostrich, but was identified as a distinct species in 2014.
Found in the Horn of Africa, especially in north-eastern Ethiopia and across all of Somalia. Also seen in Kenya at Samburu National Reserve.
The Somali ostrich is differentiated ecologically from the Common ostrich, with which there is some range overlap, by preferring bushier, more thickly vegetated areas, where it feeds largely by browsing, whereas the latter is mainly a grazer on open savanna. There are also reports of interbreeding difficulties between the two taxa.
A report to the IUCN in 2006 suggests that the Somali ostrich was common in the central and southern regions of Somalia in the 1970s and 1980s. However, following the political disintegration of that country and the lack of any effective wildlife conservation, its range and numbers there have since been shrinking as a result of uncontrolled hunting for meat, medicinal products and eggs, with the bird facing eradication in the Horn of Africa.
The amazing carvings are still visible on six of the best preserved of the mortuary poles at S'Gaang Gwaii, a UNESCO Heritage Site. Natural weathering and eventual disintegration are accepted to be a natural part of the life cycle of the poles. Note the almost intact burial cavity at the top of the pole at the bottom middle of the collage. The cavities would have held bentwood burial boxes containing the remains of a chief or high ranking person. Many of the boxes ended up in museums and private collections and since the early 1990s the Haida have been working hard to repatriate the remains.

After I created Lightlings (which are characters that develop in my Raintings) I have said many times that they only last on Earth about 30 minutes. In this photo I have captured 2 stages of the disintegration of one green one. I have never before done this; so if you have been following my Raintings and Lightlings, you might find it fascinating.
Just because I captured some of the disintegration going on doesn't mean that they don't re-integrate and go somewhere else. So it may mean they are over and done, and it may not.
The image on your left was at about 33 minutes and the one on the right was roughly 40 minutes into my never before pictured disintegration process.
