The Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp (KMSA) underwent a major renovation and expansion project that began in 2011. The museum was reopened to the public in October 2021, after being closed for nearly ten years. The newly renovated museum now has a more open and welcoming design and the museum’s collections have been reorganized and reinterpreted. The museum now features an expanded collection of over 7,000 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, and drawings from Flemish Primitives to contemporary art. Some ot the most notable pieces in the collection include works by Belgian masters such as Rubens, Van Dyck, Ensor, and Magritte and more, as well as international artists… - KMSA, Antwerp, Belgium.

I've discovered a trove of pictures I took on a seminar swing over three weeks in Northern California, Oregon and Washington in 2004. I got a LOT of pictures, which I'm just recently rediscovering. This is fun!

This is somewhere between Orick and Klamath, California. It was probably among the Redwoods, although I don't remember the situation of this particular picture.

Well, not exactly. I shot these two dahlias, and proceeded to put them on my habitual plain black background, where they just struck me as metaphorical galaxies. So I decided to find a star filled sky as background, and stumbled across one of the first images from the James Webb Space Telescope. The background here consists of pieces of that image cut and pasted around my Newly Discovered Dahlia Galaxies. Hope you like enjoy the result.

Opulence Discovered

Today we will take a look at a very large mansion worth about $11 million!! It was last listed in 2014 for $7.4 million and the listing was removed only a few short months later!! The home which sat on more than an acre of land in a very prestigious neighbourhood was bought a number of years ago for an undisclosed amount of money. It was demolished in 2018 and last I checked the new even larger house that is replacing it is still under construction!

With over 6000 square feet of living space this home was extremely large. No expense was spared when it came to the finishings and the design. The home had a stone exterior with 4 concrete porches, Scarlet O'Hara grand staircase, marble tile flooring in the the foyer and hallways, lots of hardwood throughout and high ceilings on all levels!!

I was not terribly excited by this home when I visited but looking back on this explore, it was a real gem and I'm glad I was able to see it. My only regret is that it was a short visit and I only have a few photos to show you from this large mansion!!

I do not have a video from this explore but if you like you can take a look at my most recent post from this other $5 million dollar retro mansion!!

Made it into Level Event, after two days of trying...WHEW! Grabbed the Fatpack of this dress by Astralia, and it is WORTH it. Multiple colors, textures, two different cutouts, and a sparkly effect layer! Pics do NOT do this justice, you need to demo to see it. And then good luck trying to pick just one...bwahahahaha!

Discovered the raw file of this image on our hard drive from our trip to Iceland in March. We must have liked it enough not to move this image to the computer's recycle bin but not enough to bother editing it - until now that is. It isn't the most dynamic image but it does show what some of the Icelandic roads look like.

Northern Brown Argus (Aricia artaxerxes) was discovered on Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh in 1795, and there was much debate as to whether they were a distinct species or just a subspecies of the Brown Argus (Aricia agestis). This has now been settled unequivocally, and it is a full species that also occurs in mountains in Europe, where it is known as the Mountain Argus. The white-spotted form though, appears to be unique to Britain.

The populations of northern England usually lack the white forewing spots, and also have black-spotted undersides, making them look more like Brown Argus. In this respect they also resemble the European forms of Mountain Argus. It does not seem to be particularly well-known (it isn’t mentioned in either Jeremy Thomas’ excellent book, or the Millennium Atlas) but the full white-spotted form occurs in coastal populations in County Durham (as well as Scotland) making up about 20% in some populations. The inland colonies in County Durham, though just a few miles away rarely, if ever produce the full white-spotted form.

This photograph was taken in one tiny colony on the County Durham coast. They are single brooded, flying from late June, and their caterpillars feed on Rock Rose (Helianthemum nummularium). The habitat is extremely steep crumbling cliffs, where the necessary open areas seem to be maintained by landslips rather than grazing.

Discovered a new place with some nice lake view.

NGC 3242, is a planetary nebula located in the constellation Hydra, around 1400 to 2500 light years away. It is also known as the Ghost of Jupiter, or Jupiter's Ghost as its apparent size is similar to the Planet Jupiter. William Herschel discovered the nebula on February 7, 1785 from the Cape of Good Hope, in South Africa.

The nebula measures around two light years long from end to end, and contains a central white dwarf with an apparent magnitude of eleven. The inner layers of the nebula were formed some 1,500 years ago.

I have been collecting data on this for a few years now, from multiple cameras, and locations. So, now it was time to put it all together. It may not look like it, but this may be one of the toughest images I have attempted to process to date. The dynamic range is incredible. The red and blue gas regions to the left of the nebula are very dim, and the nebula itself very bright. There is also a lot of very dim dust throughout the full frame I wanted to keep. It gives an uneven Smokey red brown look throughout background. Both broad-band (Lum, Red Green Blue) and narrow-band (Ha, OIII) data were used to create the image to try and highlight different areas

The planetary has what looks like waves of matter blown away. This was very strong in OIII, and not present in the Ha data. Many galaxies are spread throughout the background.

Thanks for looking.

Promenade sur les rails - On the train track at Ste-Thérèse. BTW...This track is not used buy trains anymore.

The science books say O2xygen was discovered in 1772. Are you kidding me? The main supporter of life as we know it was discovered?! And then Scheele and Priestly go "down in history" as discoverers more important than God or Nature or whatever greater power you happen to believe in. You discover a cure for cancer. You don't discover something that helped give birth to creation and evolution. Semantics is an important discipline at times.

Today, I would like to celebrate my own personal re-discovery of O2xygen! I don't need supplementary O2 any longer! (at least for now)... So I came home from the clinic with a latte and bought a download of a new Topaz toy. And all that equipment of mine is ready to go back to the labs.

This is the result: Isthmus Bay Road, between Lion's Head and Dorcas Bay. What better way to celebrate having enough O2 on my own than with the place that generates it better than anywhere I know!
