I took this photo of Jill G as she was studying my class ring from the US Naval Post Graduate School. She had asked about it and was curious where it came from. I took it off and handed it to her for examination as I explained what it said and represented. It was during her final moments of discovery that I snapped this photo. She was very interested in the etchings and words which is apparent by her engaged expression. Washington DC, 15 September 2017.

Recently had the opportunity to shoot a runway fashion show. Seeing as they were taking COVID precautions and I was fully vaccinated, I decided to shoot the event. It was very strange to be back at an event a year into the pandemic, but it was fun too. I'm still not 100% comfortable being around groups of people even with precautions in place but I'm slowly getting used to the idea.

I remember, that I was a teenager, sitting in the living room with my father. We were watching television. Someone is being interviewed. I cannot remember who it was, but he has just said, "I am trying to find myself."
My father's response, "Hmmph! You're right there. What's so hard about that?"
Being a teenager, I naturally thought that was an excellent remark, although I never would have let my father know that. Yet, at the same time, I was in a quandary because I too was trying to find myself and wasn't sure where to look.
Being who you really are requires bravery because there is no road map. You have to find your own way. One guide I am sure of is pain. If you are hurting - you are not being true to yourself. If you hate your job, it is not where you belong. If your relationships make you feel bad, those are not the people you should be with. When you are happy, when you experience joy - then you are on the right path. It may not be the right path for anyone but you. That's okay; no one can take this journey for you. Many will try to get you to take the path they have chosen - to validate their choices.
In my opinion, if you have to find yourself, Follow joy, walk away from pain. Experience solitude. Take some time to get to know who you are. Take a walk. Meditate. Just be alone for a while. Think. Follow your curiosity. Discover your life, discover yourself!

SET 3 – Goodman/Getwell Kroger, Post-Remodel
Taking a more drawn-back view of the bakery, we see in the foreground a couple of low-height refrigerated cases full of deli goods, the right-hand one of which also features Kroger’s new “Discover Local” imaging. Not sure if that’s a chainwide thing or just a Delta Division thing, but it has popped up in just about every store I’ve been in in the last few years. I like it, even though it does look a tiny bit cheesy.
I talked over it in the last description, but if you flip back to that for a second, you’ll see that the extreme close-up of the “BAKERY” lettering allows us a really good look at the construction of the department signage for this décor package. Given the way décor pieces seem to be made these days, I’m not sure if that’s real wood or just wood-look material, but in particular the roughness of the sides of the letters as well as the unfinished (that is, not painted white) portions of the sign ledge really make me lean more towards it being the former – which is rather interesting, I think.

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
There has been an old cardboard box kicking around the bedroom for several years. I knew it was dolls, but it was so long since I looked that I couldn't remember who was in there....... Tonight I had a look!
I was quite surprised at the variety I had forgotten for so long - there are some pretty girls here.
The Fashion Queen is near mint; Ponytail very good; Sweet 16 very good; Brunette Casey is near mint; Ghana Barbie very good & European standard also very nice.
Some have small problems - Christie has a 'greasy' face; Midge has no hair except her fringe! Julia & Malibu Francie also need re-roots. The platinum Francie needs work on her hair, so does the Quick Curl.
Poor Cara - such a pretty doll - is the worst. I bought her from an ebay seller a few years ago. When I took her from the packet both her arms & one leg fell off! The seller had glued them on & sold her as 'VGC'. Still, she has a lovely face!

To celebrate its 550th anniversary Magdalen College, Oxford has commissioned the Turner Prize-winning artist Mark Wallinger to create his first-ever dedicated permanent artwork.
Two years in development, the sculpture Y was unveiled on St Mary Magdalen Day 2008. William Waynflete, Bishop of Winchester founded Magdalen College in 1458. It is one of the best-known colleges in the University of Oxford and is known internationally for its high academic standing.
The College has many fine buildings. The Cloisters, Chapel, Founder’s Tower and Hall were built in the Gothic style in the later part of the 15th century. The Great Tower, a pictorial symbol of Oxford, is famous for the May Day event when the College choir sings an ancient hymn at dawn. The Georgian New Buildings, which blend into the College Gardens and grounds, were completed in 1733. The buildings sit amid a hundred acres of lawns, woodlands and riverside walks, which are publicly accessible, and there is a deer herd that has been in existence for over 300 years.
Addison’s Walk, named after the great essayist of the 18th century and father of English journalism, is about a mile in length and goes by the River Cherwell around a great water meadow. Beyond the end of Addison’s Walk is a tranquil field known as Bat Willow Meadow, which is where the new commission is sited. Maps of the grounds of Magdalen College are available from the Porters’ Lodge or they can be downloaded from the Magdalen website.
Over the past twenty years Mark Wallinger has established an international reputation with major solo exhibitions in London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Val-de-Marne, Frankfurt, Aarau, Basel, Milan, New York and Chicago.
His work encompasses a wide range of media, including painting, photography, sculpture, video and installation, and it takes art history, mythology, religion, politics, national identity and popular culture as its subject matter. Wallinger studied at Chelsea School of Art in 2001, and in Goldsmiths' College. He exhibited in Young British Artists II at the Saatchi Collection in 1993 and at the Royal Academy of Art's Sensation exhibition in 1997.
His Time and relative dimensions in space derived from a residency and was shown at Oxford University Museum of Natural History in 2001 and in the same year he represented Britain in the 49th Venice Biennale. The artist is best known for Ecce Homo, a life-size sculpture of Jesus Christ which inaugurated the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square in 1999, and State Britain, his 2007 re-creation at Tate Britain of Brian Haw's protest display outside parliament. He was a Turner Prize nominee in 1995 and won the award in 2007, and he is one of five internationally acclaimed artists who have been commissioned to produce proposals for the Ebbsfleet Landmark Project, which will be one of the biggest artworks in the United Kingdom.
