La chance : je les ai vues arriver de loin et ai attendu patiemment qu'elles contournent un immeuble de 20 étages près de chez moi.
"They say there is no light without dark, no good without evil, no male without female, no right without wrong. That nothing can exist if it's direct opposite does not also exist.”
― Laurell K. Hamilton,
Our latest little buck (I think) in the backyard - his mother was nearby and they went off together. Phew - I thought he was an orphan for a while there and now he just might survive the winter with her guidance.

The old Tottenham Hale was an area of low rise and mostly well laid-out buildings.
The new Tottenham Hale was explicitly designed to reduce the proportion of social housing in Tottenham - as set out in Haringey Council's 2017 Local Plan policies AAP2 and AAP3.
Following the deselection of 22 social cleansing councillors in 2018, the two successive subsequent council leaderships have rowed back somewhat from that earlier objective.
This is inhuman design, with bad overlooking, a loss of privacy, and the exclusion of many homes, especially those at lower levels, from adequate access to direct sunlight.
The turning point of planning policy in the wrong direction came with the National Design Guide of 2014, which scrapped such previous standards as the 'seventy-foot separation rule', which originated in the Tudor Walters Report of 1918.
In the last ten years, developers have been taking the mickey with ever-denser designs, and they will continue to do so, until they are stopped.
For now, let's leave the last words with Tudor Walters, 107 years ago:
'Medical opinion is unanimous as to the importance of allowing plenty of sunshine to penetrate into the rooms; it is in the winter when the sun is low even at midday that its light and warmth are most valuable. This should be considered when planning the distance between houses facing one another.'
PS the two tallest blocks at Broadwater Farm are also seen here, on the left.
Found this camera sitting on an antique store shelf for 5 bucks. Couldn't pass that up. It's a sturdy but not stellar US-made direct view 35mm camera made around 1950. Oddly enough, the lens is removable but no other lenses were produced for this model (I can be wrong on this). I once heard that the lens came off with the intention that amateur shooters could use the 50mm optic in a darkroom with an enlarger to spare the cost of buying an additional 50mm lens. Kind of a dual-use cost-saver. Again, I could be wrong on this.

It's been a while since I had my last upload with a power tower. I guess some 5 days ago? I like how big they seem here and how the wires are kinda pressurize the whole picture.
Today I have been learning the entire day for my 1st examen tomorrow morning and I am going to continue, too. So I won't be flickering around tonight, but I am most likely catching up tomorrow.
I took this shot back in January. Dunno, I haven't found anything better today.
On the other side of the fence, Mr. Zoom and I crossed the street to get a better look at the building from which we'd just escaped. I was happy to see that Mr. Z's eyes were clear again. He asked if I still had the paper I'd pulled out of the one-fingered hand. I patted the pockets of my pants. Yes! But only part of it.
We stood huddled together, trying to find a clue in the words. If we were to believe the Statue of Liberty, Demi only had to look for the signs to find her other half. Originally we were just humoring Demi, helping her with her quest. But now we felt that if we followed the signs we might find her.
Part of a headline remained. We read it together at the same time...out loud.
ines Contribute to City's Demi (and the paper was torn here)
Huh? City's Demise was a good guess as to the rest of the headline. But what about the beginning?
A bit of wind ruffled the paper in my hand and my eyes were struck by the words etched in the sidewalk.
IN DIRECT LINE WITH ANOTHER and THE NEXT.
Mr. Zoom and I looked at each other, puzzled, and in a way, more frightened than we were with the Bruce Lee look-alike bearing down on us. Could the partial headline and these odd words have a connection to each other....and to Demi?

Does anyone else's head hurt?
This is the continuing story of Demi Less and her quest to find her other half. The quest has led her...and us, from Virginia to New York City. If you are just joining us, you might want to read Part 1. Start at the last photo and move forward.

While I was trying to work out what to do about the bees that were worrying the hummingbirds, this Booted Racket-tail just decided to move the bees himself!
