Церковь Покрова на Нерли внесена в Список всемирного наследия ЮНЕСКО.
Когда пишут и говорят об этом храме, обычно приводят слова Игоря Грабаря: «Церковь Покрова на Нерли близ Владимира является не только самым совершенным храмом, созданным на Руси, но и одним из величайших памятников мирового искусства».
Храм был возведен за один год в 1165 году князем Андреем Боголюбским.
Во времена своей «молодости» храм выглядел иначе, а холм-пьедестал, является делом рук человеческих.
Подземная часть храма составляет 5,30 м . В устье Нерли вырос искусственный холм, ставший пьедесталом для церкви Покрова и предохраняющий ее от коварных весенних вод. Холм был покрыт панцирем из белокаменных плит с водосточными желобами и лестницами, сбегающими к пристани.
Пропорции храма необыкновенно изящны и красивы. Часто этот храм сравнивают с образом красной девицы Здесь все направлено на достижение эффекта максимальной стройности и высоты. Множество деталей, еле уловимых, очень деликатных, подчеркивают вертикальную ось сооружения.
The Church of the Intercession on the Nerl, a UNESCO world heritage site.
When you write and say about this temple, usually cite the words of Igor Grabar, "the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl near Vladimir is not only the most perfect temple, created in Russia, but also one of the greatest monuments of world art".
The temple was erected in one year in 1165 by Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky.
In the days of his "youth" the temple looked different, and the hill-a pedestal, is the work of human hands.
The underground part of the temple is 5,30 m . At the mouth of the Nerl rose artificial hill, which has become the pedestal for the Church of the Intercession and protect it from the treacherous waters of the spring. The hill was covered with a shell of white stone slabs with gutters and stairs leading down to the Marina.
The proportions of the temple are unusually graceful and beautiful. Often this temple is compared with the image of maiden Here everything is directed on achieving maximal effect of slenderness and height. Many parts, subtle, very delicate, emphasize the vertical axis of the construction.

This was from the morning gathering at the lek* - these are Lesser Prairie Chickens (they don't have as much brown in them). They share territory in some areas.
*A Lek is a hill/or rise area where birds and animals gather to do their courting and sparking!

RAILADVENTURE 1216 955, Kanzem (ligne Saarbrücken - Trier), 24 Juillet 2019.
Troisième session d'essais de comportement en courbes dans la vallée de la Saar pour les rames CAF de l'opérateur Norvégienne Flytoget. Suite à une panne sur la 183 500 initialement prévue pour cette session, c'est la 1216 955 "ROLAND" qui se retrouve à la traction des marches d'essais, pour le compte de RAILADVENTURE. Ici avec le premier mouvement de la journée en direction de Trier, à l'approche de Kanzem.
Direct Rail Services owned Intercity liveried 37419 'Carl Haviland 1954 - 2012' ' leads 4x RHTT sets (642036 + 642050, 642019 + 642041, 642047 + 642024, 642011 + 642044) past Ely Dock Junction, 6Z60 1042 from York Thrall Europa (Holgate Works) to Stowmarket D.G.L, in preparation for this years Autumn RHTT season.
Direct Rail Services (DRS) 37069 and BR Large Logo 37424 pass through Ely working the 3S01 0922 Stowmarket D.G.L. to Stowmarket D.G.L. RHTT.
Op 10 juli 2021 organiseerde VIEV een rondrit per trein met de Plan U 151 van de Crew 2454 . De rondrit startte in Nijmegen en bij deze rondrit werd Budel-Schoot en Born aangedaan.
Plan U 151 is vanuit Nijmegen aangekomen in Budel-Schoot, waarbij het bijzondere was dat het treinstel tot de spoorgrens was gereden. De echte staatsgrens tussen Nederland en België ligt een paar honderd meter verder naar het westen (direct voor het Belgisch sein, wat in de verte te zien is).
Een gemiste kans was dat de trein niet de aansluiting van Nystar (tot de poort) op reed en dus van de hoofdbaan af, zodat er voor de reizigers een mogelijkheid was om in alle rust een foto te maken. Er waren immers fotostop beloofd....

The legendary King Arthur has a direct association with the Castle Rocks of St John, courtesy of Sir Walter Scott’s epic poem of 1813, Bridal of Triermain. The poem tells the story of a young knight named Roland de Vaux who falls in love with a mysterious woman named Gyneth, who is revealed to be a fairy queen. The story takes place in the scenic Vale of St. John, near the town of Triermain. Gwyneth resides in the castle there (Castle Rock).
Synopsis of the poem:
The Bridal of Triermain interweaves three stories, all with a Lake District setting: the eighteenth-century courtship of Arthur and Lucy, the Arthurian Legend of 'Lyulph's Tale', and the twelfth-century romance of Sir Roland de Vaux.
In order to warn his aristocratic lover Lucy against excessive maidenly pride, the low-born poet Arthur recites 'Lyulph's Tale' in cantos I-II. He tells how how King Arthur is seduced by the enchantress Guendolen. When he abandons the pregnant Guendolen to resume his kingly duties, she swears revenge. Sixteen years later, the fruit of their union, Gyneth appears at Camelot to remind Arthur of his promise that should he and Guendolen produce a daughter, she would wed the bravest of the Knights of the Round Table. Arthur declares a tournament with Gyneth's hand as the prize but instructs her to halt the combat before lives are lost. As the instrument of her mother's wrath, however, she does nothing to end the ferocious fighting, until Merlin arises from a chasm in the ground to punish her. She is sentenced to slumber in Guendolen's enchanted castle until awakened by a knight as brave as any of the Round Table.
The poet Arthur's courtship of Lucy proves successful and, following their marriage, Lucy begs him to tell of Gyneth's fate. In the third and final canto, then, he recounts the quest of the twelfth-century knight Sir Roland de Vaux of Triermain. He has heard Gyneth's legend and sets out to find the enchanted castle. Having located it in the Valley of Saint John, he successfully passes through a series of allegorical dangers and temptations (Fear, Avarice, Sensuality, Ambition) to awaken Gyneth from her five hundred-year sleep and win her hand.

We doen voor deze foto eens een bescheiden stapje terug in de tijd; namelijk naar het jaar 2018 wat berucht werd om een extreem warme zomertijd. Deze enorm lange, warme en vooral droge zomer heeft niet alleen invloed op de natuur en mogelijk ook je nachtrust maar raakt thans ook de binnenvaart. Door het lage waterpeil kunnen diverse schepen niet varen wat tot gevolg heeft dat bepaalde vervoersstromen aangewezen raken op alternatieven.
De Rotterdamse haven is gewoonlijk mogelijk ook de plaats vanwaar de schepen vertrekken maar in elk geval nu de plaats waar vandaan diverse nu al genoemde laagwater-kolentreinen uitrukken naar Duitse bedrijven die behoefte hebben aan kolen voor hun productieproces. Eén van deze bestemmingen bevind zich in Duisburg-Wanheim.
IRP, RFO en RheinCargo leveren tractie voor de twee kolentreinen die per dag tussen Rotterdam en Duisburg rijden waarbij IRP met hun opvallend roze G2000en tractie voorzien in Nederland. Hierbij hoort dan ook het plaatsen en uithalen van de treinen bij EECV in Europoort West alwaar de treinen beladen worden. Een enorme opleving voor het bedrijf wat gewoonlijk maar één DBC trein per dag te verwerken had.
De IRP 2101 heeft even voorafgaand aan deze foto een beladen set Fals aangehaakt en wacht hier voor een sein veilig om dan ook direct koers te zetten naar Duitsland via het A15 tracé. Een dergelijk tijdelijke trein moest dan natuurlijk ook wel even gefotografeerd worden waarbij het voor mij de eerste keer was dat ik de roze G2000 met goederen aan de haak vastlegde en eerlijk, dat ziet er toch best gelikt uit!
Mean Mugging - To continue with the Bobcat photo dump, here is one of a Bobcat pulling off the quintessential felid paw raise. While this Bobcat looks intimidating, she walked by me as if I were a tree or shrub that didn't even exist. A few memorable Bobcats I have photographed in the past have also behaved like this around me; walking by me as if I wasn't even there. I'm very grateful to have found a young one the past few years that continues this behavior - always nice to be able to watch an animal and document its natural behaviors in such a way. The animal eye autofocus and 20 fps electronic shutter really pulled through here in two ways where DSLRs failed me in the past:
1. Up close, I'd often miss focus on the eye as I wouldn't be able to move the focus point fast enough, resulting in frustrating images with focus on the ear, or rear leg in these direct walking sequences.
2. Because of the slower frame rate I'd miss the best pose in the sequence, which was incredibly frustrating. It can be a bit of a pain to sort through hundreds of thousands of images, but it is awesome to know that the one pose I want is 100% in there somewhere.
