The 2016 edition brought sunny skies but low single digit temperatures. This is the kite's view of two of the jumpers at the Dip for Dozer event in Cambridge WI.
It was lovely and warm in town, so I dipped my toes in the lake. Not as shockingly cold as I expected

Dip-dyed technique, with added pen and acrylic jewel detail. No brush necessary. An experimental technique with full tutorial over at Artful Adventures.
To maintain adequate clearances and you cannot raise the height of the bridge, then lower the track, as evidenced at Blake Street on the Cross City Line North. The Hillhook Road bridge is constructed of sturdy iron and brick and the only solution to the problem of threading the overhead wires beneath it when the line was electrified, and maintain sufficient clearance was to lower the track. A telephoto lens perhaps unduly emphasises the dip in the track, but the result was effective. London Midland Class 323 No. 323203 runs into the 'dip' as it approaches Blake Street with 2L24 0943 Longbridge-Lichfield City on 21st April 2015.

This is the Preston Youth Correctional Facility Dipping Vat. All the incoming juvenile inmates had to strip down, and either walk, or got pushed into the deep end, and then back out. The solution was similar to Sheep-Dip, a bath type insecticide, use to remove any parasites that the boys may have had, before admittance to the facility. It was not heated, and in the winter, the temperature of the insecticide, was just above freezing.. It's also assumed, that the solution was a derivative of DDT, as this was a common insecticide from that era.

A chilly plunge into Lake Ripley in Cambridge WI to help raise scholarship funds in memory of Dustin "Dozer" Zuelsdorf.
The "Little Dip" is named for the dinosaur "Diplodocus", who's fossilized bones are found in this area.
The Little Dip is a bit of everything... Cafe, Bar, drive-up liquor store. (I think it once had a gas station too.) Inside are old western paintings on the walls, ceiling and floor, as well as the world's largest jade bar. Unfortunately for me, they seemed closed as I passed, so I didn't get to shoot the inside of the place. That's just how it goes sometimes.
Their sign is the most amazing jumble of vacuformed mess I've ever seen, all mounted on an old windmill that's equally a mess. Perfect!

The Culinary Institute of Virginia Diner's Club met at Bardo in Norfolk/Ghent on 4 May 2010 to enjoy the cuisine of Executive Chef Edward Storey.
Bardo is known for creative, Asian-inspired small plates.
Since the next day was Cinco de Mayo, I decided to start early with a margarita on the rocks. It was a skillful blend of tequila and triple sec, with a good tart punch of lime.
Each table was presented as an amuse of sorts one of Bardo's Zenamame dishes to share; these are a variety plates consisting of steamed edamame with different seasonings. There is traditional, Eastern Shore-style spiked with Old Bay, an Indian version and more - more than a half-dozen in all. Our table was treated to the Greek Zenamame, which included being cooked with Greek spices and served with slivers of raw, red onion and salty feta cheese; it was delicious.
From the Level I menu, I started with a duo of hummus and was presented with a platter of roasted red pepper along with truffle edamame and grilled pita wedges. The hummus was great - perfect thick texture, rich and complex flavors, and colorful presentations.
From the Level II menu, I had the Orange Chili Chicken. Not unlike a really good sweet-and-sour chicken with not so much sour and a lot of extra heat, this dish was thoroughly enjoyed. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce acted as a vessel of sweet/heat/Asiany flavors melding the chicken and rice components of the plate.
The extremely creative and fabulous Dip Sum Donuts were enjoyed for dessert; a plate of over-sized doughnut holes along with a trio of dipping sauces and pure chocolate chopsticks was a sweet way to end the meal.
