Didn't think he'd make it to his birthday. The polyps in the nose are still inflamed. I have to wipe his nose a lot. Still on prednisone and an antibiotic every few weeks. He doesn't eat much, but he still seems to enjoy life. Still following me like a dog and still playing now and then.

Also see the previous image of him I have posted.

Jimi Hendrix didn't decide on the career of professional musician when he learned to play guitar. No, he loved playing music and created something beautiful and that then became a profession. Larry Towell, for instance, was not a 'professional' photographer until he was already a 'famous' photographer. Make the pictures you feel compelled to make and perhaps that will lead to a career. But if you try to make the career first, you will just make shitty pictures that you don't care about :-).

Didn't quite materialise last night but I was happy to be in a beautiful place.

I didn’t have to make much of an effort to take this shot. My better half had just left for town for a couple of days, and I was all alone at our country home. It was raining, and I was watching TV, only to a certain extent interested in the opening match in the European football championship. Suddenly I became aware of this elk coming along the path from the forest, only 25 meters from my window. Luckily, I had my camera within reach and took a couple of shots straight through the window glass. Later he moved even closer to me, and I quietly opened the terrace door and got this shot when he was at the edge of the forest, only about 12-14 meters away. He was looking straight at me, but the wind direction was to my advantage and he didn’t run away. He was alone, and I thought of him as a lonely visitor. I watched him for ten minutes or more, while he was grazing and slowly moving into the forest again. Maybe I was the real visitor?

Слона то я и не заметил.

I didn’t even notice the elephant.” This fable was written by Krylov in 1814 under the impression of the story of a provincial about his first visit to the Kunstkamera. The narrator was delighted with the smallest exhibits of the museum, and when asked about the elephant, he scratched his head in puzzlement: "I'm sorry, I didn't notice the elephant."

I didn't have anything of interest to post for the month of August 2022. I guess I didn't get out enough that month to take shots.

So I decided to share a shot I took early September for the August selection.

This is an extremely vital roll for the Mom Alpaca... To share with her baby cria her antibodies in order to keep the baby strong, healthy and able to fight infections and so on.

It is absolutely amazing to see this process between the two. It's filled with love and compassion between mother and child. A true honor to have been there at the right time to capture this!

Many don't get a chance to witness the love and connection between these animals and their younglings!

I really so DO love my Alpacas

:-D)))

P.s... In case your wondering about the sweater... It was a little cold for the new born and we are fully equiped at the farm with fashionable attire for the little ones, to stay snug as a bug :-D)

It didn't take long for this Nuthatch to work out the best way to get to some food that I had concealed behind this branch. He started off on the top and then came in from the side but eventually realised that he could get at the food a lot easier from below which is when I got this shot!

Taken today in my local woods,Devon.

I didn't mention it before but I'm happy and proud to be officially in the Fameshed Team. Thanks a lot ♥

I didn't grow up on a farm, and therefore really don't know what this metal object is. I'm thinking it might be used for irrigation somehow. Anyone have any ideas?

Taxi to 80days - Wind river

Didn’t see the LFE (low fog event) at Golden Gate Bridge for a while, perhaps over a year. This afternoon, from weather cams I discovered that it has come back! But as always with weather, things change so rapidly, as I rushed to Hawk Hill. The clouds have risen higher, and suddenly have almost covered all of the bridge. After waiting for half an hour, the sky opened up and started to show the amazing scenery seen here. Although it was not as perfect as my expectation, but much satisfied I still am. A couple minutes later, the clouds were all over the place again, ending my shoot.

Thanks for your visit and taking the time to view this image! Hope happiness be with you and your family!

Didn't get a chance to go in , but it did look nice

The house was built as an inn between 1752 and 1755 by Alexander MacDonald VII of Glenaladale who was wounded at Culloden (1746) fighting for Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie).

Later it became a tenant farmer’s dwelling and remained as such until 1842. About that time the proprietor, Angus MacDonald XII of Glenaladale, converted the old building into a mansion house by heightening the walls and the ceilings and enlarging the windows to make it into a suitable seat for his family. Soon after this he doubled the size of the building to its present form. He and his successor were very hospitable and kept an open house in the good old Highland style. His brother, Fr. Donald, who built the church, lived in the house for upwards of 30 years, and eventually Col. John Andrew (son of Angus) succeeded in 1870. The Colonel died in 1916 without issue and the house and lands passed out of the family after a period of over 300 years.

I didn't take too many pics on the way out to Las Cruces but as luck would have it we pulled off I-40 in McLean, Texas looking for gas and found the Silverton Oil and Gas gas station along a piece of the original Rt. 66. The early morning sunlight made it irresistible and we stopped for a few shots. The gas station was an original one built in 1929.

I don't process too many HDR type images and hardly ever get one to turn out the way I want. This was blended from four images processed in Lightroom and Photoshop. If the B&W version shows a timeless quality, I think this version has a bit of a surreal quality, perhaps the color of the truck? It's also the second processing attempt, the first was very saturated and the pumps and truck glowed with color. I put that one aside and opted for a MUCH lighter touch. I was pleased with the way this one turned out.

Didn't take any pics from past 2 weeks.. :( ..so uploading this one which I took in last month as part of the soda+flowers shoot..

****THANKS MY FRIENDS******

I didn't expect to find many birds above the tree line in the mountains (over 11,000 ft), but there were occasional small, gray birds at 14,000 feet on both Pike's Peak and Mount Evans, Colorado.

American Pipits spend the summer on the barren peaks and are in the lower elevations during the spring and fall. There are three subspecies/varieties of American Pipits, and they vary a bit in their appearance. This is a Rocky Mountain variety of American Pipit (Anthus rubescens alticola), in its breeding plumage. In flight, the white edges of its tail are quite prominent.

We didn't find a pot of gold or even Skittles at the end of this Rainbow. Just the mighty Seljalandsfoss (it was more than enough) :) The person standing in the bottom right corner helps to give you a sense of scale for this beautiful waterfall.

When my time comes around

Lay me gently in the cold dark earth

No grave can hold my body down

I'll crawl home to her

Boys when my baby found me

I was three days on a drunken sin

I woke with her walls around me

Nothing in her room but an empty crib

And I was burning up a fever

I didn't care much how long I lived

But I swear I thought I dreamed her

She never asked me once about the wrong I did

I didn't think it was possible to get any more excited about butterflies than I already do, but with the coronavirus lockdown this brief visitor to the garden has just made my week 😍

It's my first butterfly photo of 2020 and my first orange tip sighting too :)

I'm sure our neighbours wondered what all the shrieking and jumping up and down was for!

Didn't know what time it was, the lights were low

I leaned back on my radio

Some cat was layin' down some rock 'n' roll

"Lotta soul," he said

Then the loud sound did seem to fade

Came back like a slow voice on a wave of phase

That wasn't no DJ, that was hazy cosmic jive

There's a starman waiting in the sky

He'd like to come and meet us

But he thinks he'd blow our minds

There's a starman waiting in the sky

He's told us not to blow it

'Cause he knows it's all worthwhile

He told me

Let the children lose it

Let the children use it

Let all the children boogie

I had to phone someone, so I picked on you

Hey, that's far out, so you heard him too

Switch on the TV

We may pick him up on channel two

Look out your window, I can see his light

If we can sparkle, he may land tonight

Don't tell your poppa or he'll get us locked up in fright

There's a starman waiting in the sky

He'd like to come and meet us

But he thinks he'd blow our minds

There's a starman waiting in the sky

He's told us not to blow it

'Cause he knows it's all worthwhile

He told me

Let the children lose it

Let the children use it

Let all the children boogie

Business has been slow, so I didn't have to work today. I took a drive to the hill country looking for something to photograph. I got a few I liked and than the sun was just too bright and everything starting looking ugly..:)

Early in the morning on May 24, during the 2015 Texas–Oklahoma floods, the Blanco River experienced catastrophic flooding. The river at Wimberley rose more than 30 feet in less than three hours, and set a new record high crest of more than 40 feet while disabling the gauge.

Rainfall totals of 10 to 13 inches were reported upstream in southern Blanco County, and all of this water entered the Blanco River and Little Blanco River. The Fischer Store Rd. bridge over the Blanco River was destroyed by flood waters west of Wimberley. The Blanco River, down stream from the bridge, at Wimberley reached a record crest. The gauge failed at 40 feet and the USGS later estimated the crest at 44.9 feet with peak flow of 175,000 cubic feet per second (5,000 m3/s). This height was more than 10 feet over the previous record height of 33.3 feet from 1929. Homes along the banks of the Blanco River from the City of Blanco, through Wimberley, and down to San Marcos experienced an historic flood. Many homes were totally destroyed and swept down stream. Many homes were struck by large debris, including full size cypress trees which typically lined the banks of the river.

Wally really didn't like being in his pouch, and most times would climb out just as soon as he was put there, His mother's pouch had been warm and he could hear her heart beat, but his artificial pouch had none of these familiar comforts. So he would climb out and call for his mother.

I didn't know daffodils could be out so early. I saw the flowers a week ago while walking in the city. Soon the snow drops in my garden will be in full bloom.

Je ne savais pas que les jonquilles pouvaient sortir si tôt. J'ai vu ces fleurs il y a une semaine en me promenant dans la ville. Bientôt les perce-neige dans mon jardin seront en pleine floraison.

He didn't walk up with that "how you doin'?"

When he came in the room

He said there's a lot of girls I can do with

But I can't without you

I didn't see the mourning dove that I photographed yesterday again today but I was equally surprised to find a Eurasian collared dove this morning! The temperature outside was -16 F/-27 C when I came to work this morning so this collared dove is definitely tough. I'm not sure how winter-hardy collared doves are since they're relatively recent arrivals here in northern Iowa and haven't been tested over many years to see if they can survive long-term but this trying cold spell could be telling.

..... didn´t realized I was the dinner, though !!

It´s no shortcut to church, but I guess that is my destination anyway.... eventually.

Didn't really get out this weekend, so just now took a ride by the river on my way to Walmart :D Old SMC Pentax-M 50mm f1.4 lens was a little troublesome against the strong light (the sun just out of frame, camera left). It also isn't tremendously sharp, but it does 'paint' nicely.

Stitched 7 or 8 frames across, for want of a 'wider' lens.

Wishing all a fine week ahead.

Didn’t like getting its photo taken

Didn't get to the tulips as much as had hoped this year, but did manage once and came away with this macro capture.

Definitely didn't do this place justice, which only means one thing! I certainly wouldn't object to waking up to this view again.

You can just make out the Dubh Ridge on the right, which 12 of us women ascended a few days before. A day that will stick in the memory. As will discovering a tick on my backside on the last day, and one of my poor companions having to extract it 😳

This egret hit the water, but came up empty.

I waited patiently (10-15 minutes) for the Great Egret to walk / jump / fly onto the back of the American Alligator, but it didn’t happen. Would have made a great picture. Wildlife photography does teach patience. Riverstone Wetlands, Sugar Land, Texas.

I didn't have a micro-bike, so I quickly made one, out of wire scraps.

One could argue that the bike isn't fully functional, but you can't deny the weight is down to a bare minimum...

(the size of the visible part is just shy of 7.5cm)

I didn’t want to do it… that is, put on my mask, stand in line for a bus ticket, then ride the crowded bus (accompanied by my tripod and camera gear) up to the Maroon Bells. But, at the Mrs. urging, I manned-up (is that politically correct) and made the trek to the Bells…. so glad I did : )

A reflective lake and two giant snow-striped mountaintops, named Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak, anchor a blissful panorama exemplified by a symphony of color that changes with the seasons.

More than 300 million years of geologic activity, including sedimentation, uplift and erosion by wind, water and ice, are credited to the creation of Maroon Valley. According to the U.S. Forest Service, the mountains received their distinctive maroon coloring from the weathering of hematite, an iron-bearing mineral, while Maroon Lake occupies a basin that was sculpted by Ice-Age glaciers.

I didn't know whether to post this for truck Thursday or fence Friday. I guess it will serve for both. HTT and HFF.

Located somewhere south of Guthrie Center, Iowa along state highway 25. This was a "turn around" shot. Far too many times I have seen something interesting but neglected to turn around while driving down the road. This time I did take the time.
