Iceland rumbles and simmers with volcanic activity, so the sand at Diamond Beach is black as the sediment is formed by boiling hot lava when it hits the cool of the sea. Some chunks of ice appear as an ethereal glowing blue colour. This is because water is actually blue (not just a reflection of the sky) so when you get ice without air pockets or particularly old glacial ice, it appears blue in colour. The contrast of the sparkling blue glacial ice against the volcanic sand is what attracts photographers from far and wide.

I have over 2000 photos to process (I won't post but a few here) it will take a while however, I wanted to get my first shots up since I got back from Idaho.
Diamond ring effect with a fiery ring around the moon's shadow. Prominence can be seen in the 2 o'clock position.
Great trip there and grueling trip back. Lack of sleep, traffic, and just wanting to be home played a part.

So I was def excited for this one which is different as well and these are coasters. I got these from Michael's, came in a set of 4 and turn out really awesome but i wish there was a clear cover to put on the top. But they are still good to use them. Can't wait to try more diamond painting coasters.

Diamond Jökulsárlón Beach is an otherworldly contrast of black sand and dazzling blue ice. Every day, icebergs break off nearby Vatnajökull glacier, journey through the glacier lagoon and eventually drift out to the frigid waters of the North Atlantic.
I initially ignored this particular chunk of ice, since it had a coating of black sand on it’s surface, but when I looked at the image back home, I decided I liked the contrast it provided.

The Diamond is the Library of University of Sheffield. This impressive building is a joy to photograph. This picture shows the reflection of St George lecture theatre which is a converted church now a University building.I was up there to do an examination and had time to look around the campus.
