Depending on the post I sometimes get many people asking "how do I do x or y" when they see one of my images. So I decided to post this, and give some step by steps below. This actually is a rather straightforward slide, lately I have been spending much more time with layers, which I did not do here. Anyway, this does include one step that I do use a lot and people ask about a lot, which is using the "Blur" options in Photoshop. Yes, I add blur to my photos, not all the time, but I do quite a bit. Sometimes the use of the blur is for the purpose below, it is not so much to get "blur" but to smooth out colors. Anyway, some secrets revealed! :-))))
Oh and by the way, I would click to view this in the light box if I were you, for this one it really is worth it! :-))

Upon that short time, eternity depends!
(Jeremy Taylor)
"You sweep men away in the sleep of death; they are like the new grass of the morning--though in the morning it springs up new, by evening it is dry and withered." Psalm 90:5-6
"The length of our days is seventy years--or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away." Psalm 90:10
God has given to man a short time here on earth--and yet upon that short time, eternity depends!
"So teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12
American Bird Association rates birds from 1-6 depending on how hard they are to find. 1 being the most common to a 6 birds that are thought to be extinct on extinct. This Bananaquit is a code 4 to give you an idea how tough it is to see it in the United States (Florida may be the only State you can find this bird). Bird is attracted to exotic garden with abundant flowers where it drinks their sweet nectar.
Bananaquit description:
Small and short-tailed with short, decurved black bill. Gray-black above with white throat and yellow belly with bold white stripe over eyes. Continuing rarity found at Richardson Historic Park and Nature Preserve in Broward County, Florida.
P.S. I have seen this species in Brazil and the Bahamas before but not in the USA.
Depending on the weather, there are an endless variety of ways to effectively showcase Venice's gondolas at the "Riva degli Schiavoni", with the island of San Giorgio Maggiore across the lagoon. Here's another variation on that theme.

White-crested Elaenia (Elaenia albiceps) is a small tyrant flycatcher (Tyrannidae) with a distinctive white flash in the crown. Unfortunately the crest isn't always obvious but this cooperative individual tilted its head towards me as if to show it off. They breed in forest edge and scrub right down the Andes from Colombia down to Tierra del Fuego, where I took this. Outside the breeding season they vacate the high ground and spread widely over much of lowland South America. There are a number of subspecies that differ in the tone of the plumage, prominence of the wing-bars and eye-ring. The southernmost form pictured here is sometimes treated as a separate species; Chilean Elaenia (E.chilensis). The name Elaenia was introduced by Swedish naturalist Carl Sundevall in 1836. It means "of olive oil" presumably from the colour of these tyrant flycatchers, though they are more the colour of green olives than olive oil. There are about 22 species of Elaenia (depending on which taxonomy you use), from Mexico and the Caribbean southwards. But as they are rather dull compared to the many colourful birds from this region they don't command much attention. Here's a Mountain Elaenia I took in Costa Rica: www.flickr.com/photos/timmelling/16510871850/in/photolist
Or Pumpkin Load depending on where you came from!
Back in the old days a Punkin Load was a single log load that was big enough to bring the trailer up to weight. This was back in the days of the big timber, back when old growth was still plentiful.
Definitely not something you would ever see today, everything coming out of the woods today is match sticks compared to the days of old!
Just an old photo that I cleaned up as best as I could considering the age!
Posting this very late, or early depending on how you think of it, 1:30 am. Should be sleeping but decided to see if the Milky Way could be seen from my location tonight. Near Murdo South Dakota at a decommissioned State Scale. Besides a little traffic very dark and a clear sky, tons of stars visible. Even with the naked eye you can barely see the Milky Way. (when you know where to look) I was in bed about to sleep when I decided to check the SkyView app and see if the Milky Way might be visible. Not the greatest Milky Way shot, shutter a little too long so the stars are not round. Only able to take a couple of shots, the intermittent traffic messed up a couple of tries, and then the wind began to blow and my tripod was not staying steady enough. Anyway, pretty happy with how it came out, imperfect as it is.
The foreground, farm and lake was taken in Minnesota off I-94 on the 4th of this month. So if you're looking at my camera settings that's why they don't make sense. They were for the day time shot of the farm. Used Luminar 4 to add my Milky Way, and Light Room to put some Milky Way reflections on the lake.
I've been visiting a few of you each day, will keep doing that. So far it looks like you've all been staying safe, at least those of you I've had a chance to visit. Hope that's the case for all of you.
On my way to SoCal, then home later next week for a few days.

This is Victoria's 4th highest mountain (depending on what list you look at). Apparently you can see Mount Kosciuszko from here.
Depending on how you look at this image, it may resonate differently with each of you. It's a focus stacked, blend to get the details and light correct. Could this be done in one shot, yes, the scene could be shot in one shot but it would be impossible to get the details and exposure all in one shot... So, I put the camera inside the old cabin, focus stacked the window frame and then took another shot for the mountain and other cabin. Then later that night I shot the milky way as it was setting over the mountain and blended it into the focus stacked scene to create the final image... That being said, this is an image/scene I plan to re-shoot. After talking with a friend about how to shoot this and get the window frame squared up, it's given me some ideas and I'd like to try it again so the window frame isn't askew...
I hope you all have a great weekend.
Not always landscape photography depends on nice colours and in nature you must be able to take nice photos even in bad weather conditions.
In our recent trip to Iceland we planed to visit Hengifoss a nice waterfall located in the north-east of the island to take some shots. There is a trail of 2,5 km to reach the point and conditions were not very good, it was cold, cloudy and rainy and even more the trail includes a cumulated elevation of 250 m with hard ramps in the beginning. Finally we were able to complete the trail and take some shots under the rain. This is the result, obviously there are no oranges and reds in the sky but the place transmitted calm and serenity.

Everybody has different approach to a photographic composition. You may approach a composition in different ways, depending on how it catches the eye. You may see the subject from a far, approach and circle it doing little framing actions with the hands looking for the right angle, position and elevation. One may instantly see the potential and hover backwards and forwards trying to find a good stance for the tripod. Let’s face it the ways are endless, they say creativity feeds the soul. However with this scene all I was interested in was a tazza e caffe. I was attracted to this fallen tree las potential for parking my bum, I was tired I needed a coffee and a snack and this trunk was as good a place as any. However I was not totally thoughtless in my approach, just as I would be very careful on where I placed my feet in wet sand, here I was extra vigilant on the surrounding vegetation, pity I didn’t have the same idea about the frost covered tree trunk. Maybe I should have dealt with my carelessness with Lightroom, but where’s the fun in that, can anyone see where I was sitting?
Depending which source you read, the Campanone tower rises between 52 to 56 meters high, by no means an impossible mission to climb, and once at the top, the view is stunning! Here, on the side facing north-west, the view of San Vigilio hill which by itself is a splendid vantage point on the old city.
Depending on the design, smoke plume art can be relatively straight forward if you follow a certain order. Process plume in Raw, Clean out large dust specks, Mirror and merge the plume and then copy, paste and rotate. I had gotten into a mode of doing test designs where I would skip the first two steps to see the plume would look interesting enough.
This one I forgot it was a test and had to reverse engineer it to do the clean up. Huge pain in the butt, lesson learned.
Other than the usual I did change the Hues from blue to yellow and applied a couple curves adjustments. All the colors to saturate where reflected into the original picture with colored lights.
March. Depending on when the second surgery is scheduled. Going to be an interesting few months . left eye first then the right . Not going to be able to do anything after surgery.
- www.budapest.org/es/parlamento-budapest/

Depending on whether you measure the depth of the canyon from the highest mountain peak directly at the canyon to the Río Colca or from the edge of the canyon,
the Colca Canyon is between 3,400 m and 1,200 m deep.
Like any old mining town, Clifton depended on the railroad which runs through the middle of town.
Clifton, Arizona, USA. Once a booming copper mining town but now mostly declining or already in decay and the majority of people and business have moved just up the road to Morenci. The Freeport McMoRan copper mine located in Morenci is one of the largest in the world
Cliff dwellings along the San Francisco and Gila Rivers are evidence of an advanced civilization that existed long before Caesar ruled Rome. Many specimens of pottery and stone implements are still to be found in these ancient dwelling places. In the mid-1500s, both Fray Marcos de Niza and Francisco Vasquez de Coronado passed through the area, following the San Pedro north to the Gila River. Geronimo was born in 1829 near the confluence of Eagle Creek and the San Francisco and Gila Rivers.
In 1856 the first mineral discoveries of the Morenci/Clifton area were found by California volunteers pursuing Apaches, and conflicts between the Apaches and advancing Anglo settlers touched off a 26-year-long war. Mining for gold and silver began in 1864, followed by copper in 1872, and the mine at Morenci quickly grew to become the largest copper producer in North America. Clifton's population ballooned from 600 in 1880 to 5000 by 1910, and it quickly earned its reputation as the wildest of the "Wild West" boomtowns. Neighboring Morenci was swallowed up by an open pit mine in the 1960s, but Clifton was preserved, and today Chase Creek Street is still graced with lovely Victorian-era buildings from the town's halcyon days as the place to quickly make and lose a fortune.
In 1983, Clifton survived two nearly fatal blows, first a nearly three-year-long strike that began on June 30, 1983. Then later that same year, on October 2, 1983, Tropical Storm Octave sent 90,900 cubic feet of water per second into the San Francisco River, which burst its banks, destroying 700 homes and heavily damaging 86 of the town's 126 businesses

The impact of loss can vary depending on the age of the person experiencing it.
A Columbia University study found that losing a loved one can accelerate biological ageing, which is the gradual decline in how well organs, tissues, and cells function. This can lead to an earlier onset of chronic diseases and mortality.
The death of a loved one triggers the body to produce cortisol, which can lower immune function. Older adults already have declining immune systems as part of ageing, so they are especially vulnerable to illness during grief.
Older adults may experience social isolation and loneliness after the death of a loved one. Loneliness can increase the risk of health conditions like depression, stroke, heart disease, and suicide.

I’m not a poet (though I used to be one), so please excuse this random reference to William Carlos Williams’ The Red Wheelbarrow. I walked for miles along the streets of Amsterdam, crossed many a bridge whose iron railings were lined with tightly packed bikes, took many a photo of such, but only this one made the cut. Without the pink bicycle, this would be just another photo of a bridge over an Amsterdam canal. Who parked this pink bicycle there? Surely some tall, clog-wearing Holland blond, whose smile could blind, adorned it with petals she had plucked fresh that very morning.
The flowers turned out to be fake and the cobwebs between the wheel spokes spoke. So much much depends upend the pink...
Depends I suppose if you are coming or going ! This is just the entrance or exit to the down line at Waiton on Thames railway station - it is silly what one will point the camera at while wandering aimlessly killiing time while the car was being serviced .
This iceberg had so many personalities (if you can say that) depending on which façade you saw. This is the second image I've posted of it and there will be a third. The thing is, this angle is so different that I bet you can't tell which is the other image shot of it that I've already posted.
Even though And we shot it late - at 1:30am, so that the light was soft as it gets at that time of the year.

The Atlantic puffin’s plumage depends on whether or not it is breeding. In fact, the appearance change is so dramatic that it was once believed it was two different species. This species is most recognizable while in breeding season, sporting its iconic black and white plumage with a black, yellow and orange bill. In winter, when breading season is over, the plumage and bill turns drab with a darker-colored face, especially around its eyes. In late winter and into spring, the bird becomes temporarily flightless as new feathers on its tail and wings replace the old feathers.
The Atlantic puffin is around 25 centimeters long. Males tend to be slightly larger than females. Its body shape and webbed feet have adapted to diving and swimming underwater.
