It was tipping it down despite being dry a hour earlier so will go back at some point to get a decent shot of this rare beast!

Loch Morar (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Mhòrair) is a freshwater loch in Lochaber, Highland, Scotland. It is the fifth-largest loch by surface area in Scotland, at 26.7 km2 (10.3 sq mi), and the deepest freshwater body in the British Isles with a maximum depth of 310 m (1,017 ft).
Lazar`s canyon is the deepest and longest canyon in Eastern Serbia. Its length is 4.5 kilometers, and its depth is between 350 and 500 m. More than 70 caves and pits were discovered in the area of Lazar`s canyon, and its flora is even 5 times more diverse than the flora of the whole of Serbia. It is one of the most inhospitable canyons in Serbia and hence it still has not been fully investigated. An old legend says that after the Battle of Marica in 1371, Serbian Prince Lazar's horsemen came to this place and decided to get some rest and that is how the canyon got its name. The Lauterbrunnen valley is one of the deepest in the Alps, comparing the height difference of the adjacent mountains and the valley floor. In some places the cliff walls are 1000 m high. In the deepest and dustiest corner of my mind are faint memories of trips to the amusement parks with my grandparents. Bumper cars, cotton candy, twister, soda pop, fun house, milk duds, spider, candy apples,...roller coaster, hotdogs...zipper. Wipe the dust away and even more appear.Not surprisingly, removing the dust so many years later also reveals the memories of gluttony and excess which invariably lead to more than one trip being cut short by upset stomachs.
My grandparents took their last ride into the spook house long ago and now I am them. Except that I’m not. With no grandchildren to spoil every summer. No children to despise my innocent attempts to win favor of the little ones - ok, maybe not so innocent. No, they sit there under the dust, unencumbered by being piled upon by more recent memories of tired kids screaming and crying to go home before the kid in me is ready.

The mystery of Lake Gormire is that it has no major inflow or outflow of water, baffling people who wondered how the lake was fed. Modern scientists believe the water supply comes from an underground spring, but hundreds of years ago it’s existence was magical. Gormire translates as ‘filthy swamp’ and It’s dark appearance gave rise to several myths, including that it is bottomless and conceals the submerged remains of a sunken village. At least the deepest lake in Yorkshire. The lake is also known as the White Mere.

I found it heavenly to explore and hike here over several decades in the spring and fall tho. Rattlesnakes and ankle sprains were the biggest concern.

Crater Lake in Klamath County in Southern Oregon is the deepest lake (almost 2,000 feet) in the United States. It was formed about 8,000 years ago when the 12,000 foot volcano Mount Mazama exploded. At an altitude of over 8,000 feet, it is covered in snow about eight months a year.
The lake is intensely blue due to its great depth and clarity. There are no streams running in or out of the lake. The water level is maintained from precipitation only, mostly snow melt. The lake gets on average 43 feet of snow every year and the record is 73 feet.
To sleep a night in a place like this;
so high above the majority of human residents of the area;
yet cradled by yet higher mountains;
a couple of bodies of water, cradled too by the mountains,
air, so much air - I could breath, really fill my lungs (and no not just with smoke!)
I guess I was just missing fire;
but I learn by trying stuff like this out - even if I forget a thing or two or take a wrong turn .........
So when I go back to it, I'll have a little experience with it and I'll know what I need for a fuller re-vist........
but waking up to this - who cares if I forgot the fire pit ♥
