August 30, 2021: March for Voting Rights and Make Good Trouble Rally. Washington DC Aug 28, 2021.

I managed to snag a D.C. flag down at the Field of Flags yesterday.

A bench dedicated to the people who lost their lives in the mass shooting in Georgia last week.

This bird also supports dc statehood. And cherry blossoms.

There's one huge cherry tree blossoming right now in Logan Circle, and it's gorgeous. I just know it supports dc statehood. Also I know that the cherry blossoms are limited at the Tidal Basin this year, so I'm thankful there are so many cherry blossoms in the actual DC neighborhoods too!

This is one of DC's newest murals! Right by Dupont Circle.

U.S. Capitol, Washington, DC. A group of local kids performed the John Oliver DC Statehood song at the Capitol this morning. A daughter asked her mom why Miss District of Columbia was there. I said, "DC has a Miss America contestant, but not a senator." The mom replied, "How absurd is that?"

Washington DC, Wednesday November 17, 2021.By my count around a thousand voting rights activists gathered in front of the White House to advocate for Congressional passage of The Freedom To Vote Act and The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Most of the rally speakers railed against the filibuster and Biden's failure to end it because that is how Republicans can stand in the way of voting reforms and DC Statehood too.The crowd here today was multi-racial and multi-generational. Organizatons represented included MoCo DSA, People For The American Way, SEIU, Our Revolution, Black Voters Matter, League Of Women Voters and more. A hundred or so folks decided to be arrested by refusing to move from the sidewalk in front of the White House when asked to do so by the Police. The arrestees were courteously and quickly booked and immediately released.
