The Art of Interpretation: From the Bible to Da Vinci to a Contemporary Interpretation - Old ideas give birth to new ideas. Ancient stories live on in contemporary music and art and film and literature. In this presentation with Travis Tamerius, Jane Mudd and Terry Martin, students explored the nature of creativity, from the source of inspiration to the later interpretations of the original work. They looked at how the ancient biblical story of Jesus' Last Supper was reimagined in the work of a Renaissance painter (Da Vinci) and how those two pieces (text and painting) came to influence a contemporary piece by Professor Terry Martin. Of course, you can't talk about the Last Supper without eating together, so they had some food on hand to help us digest the learning even better. This LEAD event took place in Thurmond Chapel on the William Woods Campus in April 2015.

Today was the first day it snowed this winter (can't you tell!). Of course nothing stuck to the ground, but it made me ohhhhh so happy inside. As I was editing this picture, I realized that it looks a lot like DaVinci's Anatomy studies.
