DAVINCI photos on Flickr

I met BMF leader Blu Davinci through a mutual friend, Ray Lynch. He did a interview for his DVD with him and asked me to take photos of Davinci. A couple days later I met him together with Fabolous at a release party.

Well, in reply I can comfort you: There is all of visible art standing about you like dead wood in the forest, waiting for the cut of your ax. Some of it is good wood; some of it is rotten. If it is your anointed task in life to be the judge of other people’s creativity, then opportunities abound for you.

If, on the other hand, you wish to venture into virgin territory, discover new worlds, reach a little further beyond your own grasp… if you wish to truly be a writer or an artist…if you wish this at all, you must venture into the chaotic land of invisible art.

BUT…you ask, won’t I be lost? Well, you can bring your moral compass along.

Your education and your acquired skills. And everything you have learned and thought and felt up to your point of departure can come along as welcome baggage.

The difficulty is enormous. Jesus Christ only cured a handful, and he had his Doubting Thomases.

The theory of invisible art is clearly not for everyone. It is uncomfortable to snug little Western minds that, like so many third little pigs, are used to being safely protected from the big bad wolf behind their stout brick walls.

But these people are not for a life of creativity, are they? I would just warn those of you who are quick to ridicule that there is a grain of honesty in every bit of sand at the beach. Our New York City friend, himself sitting under a wide sun hat, dark sunglasses on and fully lathered in 45 screen oil and enjoying a Coney Dog and a crisp breeze off the Atlantic, may have a grain or two of vital truth in what he espouses, as well.
