Darter dragonfly . Background is a slight cheat- it's a sun chair but I expanded it out to take away some rather ugly white shapes
Common Darter Dragonfly (Sympetrum striolatum). The most common UK dragonfly and there were many of them at Potteric Carr Nature Reserve near Doncaster. (Yorkshire Wildlife Trust)

Vagrant Darter (Sympetrum vulgatum). This photo is taken through a reversed 50mm lens. I saw someone here ( myriorama) posting photos made like that, and wanted to give it a try. I had to come really close to the dragonfly, a few centimeters. On earlier efforts the lens touched its wings and it flew away. But in this case it worked.

Leopard darter (Percina pantherina)
Leopard darters rarely exceed three inches in length. They have 11-14 large, dark spots on their sides. These spots contrast against a light background that ranges from pale olive on the back to yellowish-olive on the underside. Historically, leopard darters occurred in upland, large stream habitats of the Little River drainage in Oklahoma and Arkansas. Currently, scattered populations are found within its historic range. Approx 1/60th Dart/Pointer in a livery based on City Line livery of about 13/14 years ago. I've got 2 others in liveries loosely based on Arriva and National Express.

Common Darters like to perch on light coloured things and when they're settled they're often very approachable. Look for them on pale paths, stones, fences, logs, sticks... many places!
