The MDDE returns home from the chemical plant, moseying on back to Massey, MD. the endless corn out here reminded me of the state that doesn't exist just 45 minutes from my house.

It's an all-too-common sight in some Memphis neighborhoods -- stuffed animals nailed to a utility pole as a street memorial to a victim of violence. This one, in South Memphis, is said to be in memory of a man who was shot in the head some weeks ago on South Lauderdale. Damn this town.

I hadn't expected this train so had to bound down the snowbank. The cartoon loco is at least on the driving end this time, but alas against the sun.

Heavy cloud cover over the Buffalo, NY region limited viewing for the total solar eclipse, but I did get more images than I thought I would.
Composite image.
An eastbound freight passes the large cut east of Java Montana. Unfortunately some "artist" decided to cover the BNSF logo on the lead unit with some sort of scribble, which I guess could be called a paint variation in the Great Pumpkin fleet?
A family friend made us a pan of lasagna for last New Year, Jan. 1, 2024. It was damn good and the leftovers went quickly. Hope everyone who celebrates does so with a great meal.
Bit of a cock up with yesterdays session!
I had decided to add some food colouring to the water in the bauble. Thought it may add a little more interest... My first shot produced a white image with some red streaks flashed through it. Hmmm... delay set far too late. So I reduced it to 12ms, yet another whiteish image! Thoroughly fed up at this point I tried one more. Reduced the delay further to 5ms. This proved to be far too soon and I was left with an image of a dangling unexploded bauble! So I packed everything away and loaded the files into LR...
On screen I could see a lot more of what was happening and finally understood where I was going wrong. Whilst changing the settings on the MIOPS I must have turned the 'lock' to off! This has the effect of firing the flash whenever it detects sound whilst the exposure is running. Therefore this is essentially a double exposure. Two bursts of flash rather than the one you get when 'lock' is on! Damn!
Had to do some serious sliding to pull anything back. Hence the artefacts as dehaze is set to +85.
Not the best image but a learning curve for any other MIOPS users...
