The pictures are of eastern mudsnails, Ilyanassa obsoleta, which is the intermediate host for the trematode Pleurogonius malaclemys. The trematode’s definitive host is the brackish water diamondback terrapin (Malaclemys terrapin). The pearl-like disks on the snail’s operculum are metacercarial cysts of P. malaclemys. When the snail is eaten by a terrapin, the cysts open, releasing the trematode, which moves to the terrapin’s intestine.

Cooper has a cyst growing on the inside of his right eye lid. It's been there for a while, but is steadily growing, and will require surgery to remove it. The good news is it's benign, and growing from one stock, which should make removal relatively easy.
The vet was blown away by Cooper's calm demeanour as she examined him in his eyes. He's such a good boy!

The view is looking down Allen Street in Tombstone, Arizona, in February 1977 during my first visit to this historic western town. On the right is the Crystal Palace Saloon, which opened in 1879 as the Golden Eagle Brewery. That established was destroyed by fire in 1882 but was rebuilt and reopened as the Crystal Palace. The building also was expanded to add a second story for offices used by such luminaries as U.S. Deputy Marshal Virgil Earp, attorney George W. Berry, and Dr. George E. Goodfellow. FRIDAY:
Since the cyst on my neck has been draining for the past week. The doctor could not do the surgery as originally planned. Instead, he makes two cuts(turned out to be two cysts) and then proceeds to push, drain, dig, and scape each of the pockets. Bruce said it was the grossest thing he's ever seen... he then packs the pockets with this stuff he kept referring to as "wick". They are long strips of thin gauze that look like shoe string(or wick).
After this, I will have to go to the hospital every day to have the packing redone. Once the healing is complete, they will go back and do the surgery as originally planned.
SATURDAY:
Now, when I went in Saturday morning. The purpose was to have the stuffing taken out of the wounds and then repacked and covered... well, the girl working was new. You could tell she knew little of what she was doing. She starts by pulling the strand of gauze out of the left pocket. Then starts to push the new one in... let me tell you. The pain was excruciating. Every part of my body was clenched. My teeth, hands, toes... she had very little in when she stopped. I told her I felt like I was going to faint. So she leaves to find someone else or call the doctor about having the area numbed... This is when I go out like a light. Bruce grabbed me by the arm and shirt. All the time yelling for the nurse... non in sight... so I'm sitting on the floor when I wake up and say "how did I get on the floor, did I faint?"... I'll tell you right now, it's a good thing Bruce was there. Because if she would have left me alone. My head would have crashed onto the floor(I was sitting on the edge of an examination table).
A big part of my problem was that, before leaving home, I had taken some pain medication(Vicadin) without food... I was thinking it would help the pain ahead of time. Plus the directions said that taking with food could lessen the effect of the medicine. Very stupid on my part.
Anyway, I'm sitting there on the floor. They bring me some crackers and toast to eat. Which helped a lot... at one point she asked me how I felt. I said "fine, you want me back up there(table)?"... she goes, OH NO, Stay right where your at. :-)
They then bring me a chair with arms to sit in... as I'm sitting there, I start to feel sick to my stomach. So they hand me a tub thing... it's right about now that I start to have some kind of seizure or something. My body stiffens up, my head hits the wall behind me and my eyes start to roll into the back of my head... when I come to. There's a nurse on both sides of me, trying to calm me down. I'm kinda fighting with them at this point. I wasn't quite sure where I was or what happened. It took me a second to focus on where I was. A very weird feeling... as I was coming to. It was almost like tunnel vision, with nothing in focus.
They then get a bed to wheel me to the Emergency room... I'm alert at this point. But shaking all over. Mostly because the breeze from the hallway was cold... they put oxygen on me, making me take deep breaths to calm me down. I'm basically having panic attacks. I keep telling them I'm claustrophobic... even the railing on the bed was bothering me. Made me feel trapped. Which is silly, and I knew that at the time. But that's the state I was in.
After calming down some. I kept apologizing to everyone... saying how stupid I was with the medications. I'm crying and basically an emotional wreck... they were very nice about it. The nurses from upstairs anyway. The Emergency Room nurses weren't very friendly at all.
During my cool down period. I'm thinking of all the times I spent in the hospital with my mom... only this time, I'm in the bed... the whole experience was a bit overwhelming.
I was probably in the Emergency room for about 3 hours... which isn't bad. They gave me some medicine for nausea. Shortly after which, I throw up... "oh yeah, it was a grand experience"... the Emergency Doc comes in and numbs the back of my neck before doing the procedure. He also told me to have the nurses on Sunday do the same.
SUNDAY:
Well, today(Sunday) went much nicer... no numbing though, and it hurt like hell. But it was a pain I could live with. One of their regular "wound" specialist just happened to be there. So she took care of me. Cleaned everything out, and repacked it. There was a lot of crap in there I guess. The girl who was actually on duty said she had never seen anything like it... "glad I could make her day" ;-)

Hepatic cysts are often revealed when ultrasound is done during physical examination. When faced with the disease hepatic cyst, many people will get nervous, wondering if hepatic cysts mean liver cancer and if hepatic cysts will turn into liver cancer or what harm hepatic cysts will do.

We see lots of these, but this one is a particulary good example, with multiple cystic chambers containing glairy materal. The walls are composed of bland fibrous tissue with no specialized lining.

An Mri scan of my spine taken June 2010. in this image you can see a spinal cyst that i have slowing growing up my spinal cord, what i have left of it. as this expands i will lose sensation of where ever it strangles the cord. Luckily it has not expanded within the last two years. I guess you could say its a little time bomb waiting to go off. I'd rather it wasn't there. I'm told an operaton to remove the fluid is a 'serious' op. well so is losing the use of my arms.
Since being paralysed 14 years ago and the 'experts' finding this cyst I have lost a further loss in sensation and movement due to the cyst effectively ridding me of one verterbra 'about an inch'
If you look at this image of me posing (link below), something i seem quite natural at
you can see where my paralysis kick in, the line around the nipples.
below that level i have no sensation so the mucle structure no longer functions.
This is why i don't publish photo's below this line.
sadly no more stomach muscles means mr wobbly belly.

Any guy that understands muscles will notice my "latissimus dorsi" muscles,
they appear to extend below my break.
i can only assume that the top of the muscle is working and filling the lower part with blood.
i am unable to feel to touch this area even though the muscle appears tense.
kind of weird... Also the right hand side muscle group extends lower than the left.
this is because there are a few nerves on the right side of my torso that do not function on the left.
