Custom built BrickArms/Brick Warriors/Brick Forge/SidanToys/BigKidsBrix/LEGO Star Wars minifigure.
I`m doing a one-off custom Commander Bacara for someone at the moment. This is`nt it, but during the process I decided the one I built a couple of months ago needed upgrading. I think it`s an improvement resembling more the Star Wars character with a few added extras. I was very tempted to paint a dirty wash over him to make the look more authentic & still may consider it. I hope all you Star Wars fans enjoy it!
This car is the 2nd of four 3 wheelers built by the slightly eccentric Alexander Fraser in his Lincolnshire workshop, so not a kit car fitted with a mildly tuned Cooper S 1275cc engine and weighing approximately half that of of a mini makes for a pretty lively performance. The maker claims 0 - 60mph in 6 seconds and a top speed of 120mph.
The front body work is of a 1950 Studebaker Champion. The wooden body parts are apparently custom built

I`m doing a Knights theme for the next few figs & each will be defined by their colours. This is the Red Knight. I was inspired by Richard Goff`s knight who was inspired by Secutor`s knights who was inspired by Toxic Andre`s knights. Well so it goes... Basically just stuck with the original LEGO castle knight design, added extras & then finally painted it.
This mysterious custom built panorama camera is totally unique. 3 Frames of 24/36 regular 35mm film merged into a 1:4.5 (3x11 or 24x108mm) format panoramic photo. 81° View Angle equivalent to approx. 25mm wide angle in 35mm fullframe. Rare Tokyo Super Topcor 1:7 65mm wide angle lens provides full coverage of the frame. Fitted frame counter with 3 strokes for 1 frame in 12 total photos. Focusing helicoid from an Olympus Zuiko lens is adjusted with a focusing scale. There even is a self build flash sync socket.
I bought this from an ebay seller who normally sells mixed items probably from estates and household sales etc. That's why he had absolutely no information about it or the owner.
Stockholm's Gamla Stan is almost custom built for portrait backgrounds - narrow alleyways with slight curves and high buildings helping to give an even light across wider spreads of backdrop than often afforded to the photographer.
Lars is a Stockholm native since 1938, and was able to fill me in on some of their stories. This one is Prästgatan, which features in a number of folk songs. He also noted the changes over his time here - sadly tinged with the same trends as so many places; one can't leave a door unlocked any more, for instance.
Picking his way through the dense crowds attracted to the city centre by the "Vattenfall World Triathlon Stockholm 2014", Lars had struck me both for his meditative, intelligent gaze and his angelic white glow. In the shadows of the alleyway I'd test shot for a background, I hoped he would offer enough contrast to claim centre stage, and have the presence to justify it! In the shot we used just the sunfire (gold/silver striped) reflector with a -2 stop pop of fill flash from an on camera softbox. Together, as the softbox is so high, I find you end up with a kind of guerrilla clam shell light set-up. It's maybe not the most masculine lighting set up, but I think it does a good job of giving lars and his chic blazer an even pop of highlight against the darker alleyway.
Often I would clone out the bokeh highlight behind him, but in this case it felt appropriate - a sort of "light bulb moment" look to it, in keeping with Lars' quick intelligence.
He's a psychotherapist, and we talked about his work. He also showed me a book he'd picked up that morning; Death Of A Hero. It discusses the role of men in the modern world, in the light of recent trends in popular culture. Man, Lar notes, now graces our screens generally as an oaf, as a sports obsessed, greedy, lager craving beast. That's not to say that the portrayal of women has ever been adequately fair, he explains, just that the recent trend is aggressively pushed and men are left confused, challenged and in danger of losing their identity in the face of the media onslaught. It was a very interesting angle on the world to have explained with Lars' methodical intelligence and understated passion.
It's worth noting that world class cyclists were whizzing past us, about three metres in front of Lars, as we shot this. How on earth he maintains his serenity and focus, I don't know!
Lars - Thank you so much for your time. I hope you caught up with the rest of your party and like your portrait. Tack!

I could`nt figure out what sort of dude this guy is. He started out with a Sheriff theme in mind then kinda turned Ranger-like & finally morphed into this Bandit type character (I think)...hee hee!

Do you remember I previously cut the face out of this Alien mask to use for one of my recently built Sci-Fi Soldiers? I used the rest of that mask building this little Martian dude & placed a space visor over the missing face.
Credit has to go to Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ and Ben Wurst for all the dedication put into the Osprey Project! All platforms are filled plus one custom made inside the impoundment.

G`day everyone & all the best for 2015! First fig for the year & I`ve seen some brilliant work from you guys already :) My star sign is Sagittarius so I thought an Archer would be an appropriate "zodiac" custom to build. I`ve got some new NMM paints arriving so I`m keen as to try these out for the next figs.
Used custom built rig to capture two events simultaneously;
- The glass is sliding to the right and abruptly stopping, causing an upward splash effect.
- A colored stream of water pours down from above.
The shot is taken just after the streams collide.
High speed photography set uses quaketronics flash controller, sound activated, American DJ Snap Shot II strobe fired through a frosted acrylic sheet.

Well, I found myself being tagged in the latest round of "top ten" getting about. Thanks Richard Goff :) I think that means whoever I tag in this shot is encouraged to post their own favorite ten minifigs as well & then they tag people etc...I could`nt really define a "top ten" so here`s ten I think stand out among the lot. I struggled trying to squeeze 10 figs into my tiny shoot space without it looking overcrowded so I shot them individually to form this photo collage.
Custom built by Sweetwater Precision Weapons for a spec-ops designated marksman, this heavily-modified Marlin .45-70 lever action has been fitted with an ultra-lightweight modular rail system, a titanium-core stock with adjustable buttplate and built-in round saddle, bipod and rubber foregrip. The magazine tube has been extended, and the barrel is a specialized heavy version with integrated compensator, which can be replaced with a Tilltac threaded barrel for use of a silencer.
After extensive range (and eventually, field) testing, the owner of this rifle found that at distances of 100-500 yards, he was far more comfortable shooting his scoped civilian Guide Gun than with any government issue semi-automatic. As a key element in a classified counter-terrorism team, Sweetwater was contracted to build a modular tactical weapons system around his game rifle.
Designed for use in urban areas, the SPW Marlin Mod 0 weighs in at 12.3 lbs. The Tilltac "HBRR" bolt design allows for incredibly accurate fire, though the lever action made it necessary to install an extendable (high-rise) bipod. While awkward for most operatives, the gun's owner, having hunted with the same weapon since childhood, has little trouble maneuvering the action, even from a prone shooting position. The powerful .45-70 Government cartridge has been re-tooled by Tillman Tactical for much higher velocity and, as a result, an increased pont-blank range (comparable to a modern 5.56mm NATO round.)
Shown here fitted with a Sweetwater night vision scope, this rifle is one of a kind- and has over a dozen confirmed kills.
The June 1, 2019 Grand Classic of the CCCA Museum on the Gilmore Car Museum campus in Hickory Corners, Michigan. The Grand Classic is a smaller show on the Saturday preceding the Sunday Grand Experience.
This incredible Imperial Convertible was in spectator parking and pretty much stole the show even before we got to the museum grounds.

Put in some pedal time at the Ultimate Cycle Challenge (cancer research fundraiser). Most of the people were on bikes. Meanwhile, we were pedaling a bar with custom built rollers. Classy.
Afterward, I spent some time in the parking lot freezing, until my balls turned into a vagina, and shot some longer exposures.

I had`nt planned to do this style of character but as always, it just kinda came together. I just like how this guy turned out & was pleased with it`s simple, neat format. I do hope this is not inappropriate or offensive to anyone :) The stone wall in the background is from HO scale train set scenery & the rest is Warhammer scenery & both suit LEGO scale nicely.

The latest LEGO motorcycles getting about are pretty awesome. I thought the Halo dudes` headgear already looked like a cool motorcycle helmet & so he`s got himself a new customized bike. Kinda resembles a KX.
Ok, back to the Cybernetics Lab!

Hicks would have to be one of my all time favorite Sci-Fi Soldiers. The Alien films are fantastic & I could`nt help but re-visit the theme again. This time I wanted to build a proper troop based from the Marines in Aliens. I think I may attempt a Kyle Reese (same actor) custom soon, another favorite Sci-Fi Soldier.

Most of this guy is entirely Brick Warriors apart from the shield & some add-ons. Yesterday I had noticed a great custom version of LOTR "Aragorn" brilliantly built by MCH-Custom & that fantastic design inspired me to finish the paint job. Also got some new scenery to play with!
Designed and custom built by Don Lee Coachworks of LA, CA for "Fatty" Arbuckle at an estimated cost of $32,000. This is the only custom-built car produced by Pierce Arrow. With its unbelievable statistics, it is a dream car. Current owner is Robert Jepson of Savannah, GA. It is a show-stopper in every event and winner of Best of the Show.

The third of the "Knights" series. The Blue Knight. All these knights were painted with enamels while carefully leaving some of the original LEGO printing behind to be noticeable as well. Basically they are all just elaborate mods on the original LEGO Castle Knights. The capes & the low lighting kinda hide a lot of cool details. The three of them look awesome together so I`ll so a do shoot of them in brighter lighting with some scenery. I did start making sheaths for their swords but realized there was hardly no room for them anywhere! Thanks for checking them out folks :)
Custom built by Farber Specialty Vehicles, this is APD's former command unit. It has since been replaced by a 2016 model. Seen here at a Metro training scenario at Eisenhower Metro station in March 2016.

I thought I`d play around with some new formats & try different colour schemes on this one. It had a cool design to start with so I did`nt want to take too much of that away & kept it`s format quite simple without over-detailing which I tend to do often. I call a lot of these figs Sci-Fi Soldiers because I don`t know what else they`d be! May have to do a Sci-Fi groupie soon.
Custom built Iron Man LEGO minifigure. Full custom armor designed by Breakthrough Army.
This was really fun to paint hey. The brushes just fell into place so nicely though the line work nearly sent me blind! To keep the shinny metal armor look I used only enamel paints. Now I`ve worked with a few custom casts, I`m pretty confident to start sculpting my own armor/vest pieces now.
Probably the coolest custom built from an early '50s Buick, that I have seen. At the Earlville, Illinois Cruise Night, 2016.

Another Sci-Fi Soldier kinda inspied from watching the trailer to Mad Max 4. I have much to say about this, but not here. Put it this way,.. it just aint Max without Mel. Anyway, the characters in the film just look fantastic & that gave me ideas for the next Post-Apoc fig.

Custom built BrickWarriors/BrickForge/SDT/LEGO minifigure. Custom torso armor designed by Breakthrough Army.
There`s a certain style of Sci-Fi Soldiers I`m liking at the moment & it`s these concepts I`ve started to build recently. They are simple, easy to build & have that streamline design giving them a futuristic look with that retro kinda twist.
