Part of Spike's collection, photographed at the August 6, 2014 Brooklyn Big Boy cruise-in. Spike has roughly fifteen cars in his collection, including this most interesting 1941 Ford that was customized by Doug Thompson of Kansas City, Missouri about 25 years ago.
I was honored to have my flickr contact ROGERIO MACHADO who was visiting from Brazil with me for this visit.

Bob Hirohata's legendary Barris built '51 Mercury. This is a picture of the actual car as restored several years ago.
Painted in 1969 by Bill Carter of Van Nuys, California. The colors are fuschia and silver metalflake with "veiling" over the silver in black. Veiling was more or less random swirls applied with a special spray gun. This decorative technique was said to have been borrowed from manufacturers of household furnishings and first used on cars by Larry Watson.
Probably the most famous lowrider of all time. Fortunately it still exists in excellent original condition and is occasionally displayed.
The Impala was painted two tone blue, in enamel. Repeated waxing resulted in a shiny, perfectly smooth finish.
A later paint job in purple and lavender pearl and metalflake featured lace painting, a fad of the era.
