Another shot of headtube, cap and stem

This horn was made in about 1949 and was probably introduced a few years earlier.

This was probably the standard Custom Built model Buescher offered at the time; I've seen several of them. However, it may be a variation on the standard with a different bore size or other components.

However it's clearly designed around what would be Buescher's common post-war theme, in that it's wrapped in conventional trumpet dimensions rather than the long tightly-wrapped configurations the earlier Aristocrat and Custom Built horns were built in.

Compare this horn to the picture sets of the 1944 Aristocrat and then refer to the sets of the pre-war Models 234, 235 and 220 horns; you'll see that the newer horns are designed in simpler, sparer more modern style.

The unique 2 tone colouring by Paulo - Power Shader

This is a one of a kind custom built guitar designed by me, i.e. shape, peghead and yellow rose inlay. The actual engineering and crafting of this fine instrument was by Ralph McBee Walker III, aka Bo Walker. You can visit his web site at www.lint.org.

The guitar top is spruce, the neck is maple, the fingerboard is ebony, the bridge is ebony, the inlays are mother of pearl and abalone. The rose is mother of pearl dyed yellow. The back, sides and peghead top are flamed maple. Unlike many guitars, the tone is well balanced, nice strong bass with crystal clear treble, The notes sustain longer than any acoustic guitar I've played. Thanks Bo for such a beautiful instrument.

The Aristocrat Custom Built trumpets were multi-pitch horns that could be tuned to Bb or A.

The main tuning slide has two sections. Note the two rounded vertical braces just behind the "C" shaped brace in the main slide's crook. Those braces support an independent stretch of tubing.

When tuning to regular Bb, you just adjusted the main slide as usual, sliding the whole main assembly in and out. When you wanted to tune to A, you slid the main slide out and then pulled the portion of the slide assembly with the "C" brace even farther out.

Note the knurled ring on tubing extending from the third valve case to the main slide. Just to the right of that ring you can threading in the tube. The ring is a threaded ferrule used to lock the slide into position when it was extended.

Heather's bar/stem was custom made using a combination of fillets and TIG welds to get a really specific look. A 38CM 25.4 Nitto B-123 handlebar completes the tight and right track look on Heather's Rockcity and we added a hand-cut 'H' to the back of the stem as a cherry on top for our favorite gal.

Only an enthusastic model railroader could love a snoot like that !
