This is just one of 8 floral designs we printed on handmade Italian paper. We did this collection for Cursive New York.
My friend Erica has come into the possession of some beautiful old autograph albums from the late 1800s. They're filled with little drawings and exquisitely worded poems and well-wishes. Everything feels so formal and sincere. The quality of the penmanship from that period is unbelievable. Most of the signatures in the books, including this one, were written by kids in high school.
as aulas de caligrafia com a andréa tão avançando. agora estamos estudando a letra cursiva, com bico de pena. o curso passado foi de ponta quadrada, e estudamos o alfabeto romano, mas na verdade eu caí de amores pela itálica. no começo, a bico de pena tava sendo bem difícil. mas agora acho que tomei gosto pela coisa, e apesar desse segundo "o" ser uma das coisas mais feias desse mundo, tô começando a gostar da brincadeira.

The albums feature some great first names. We read well-wishes from folks named Minnie, Ida, Maddie, Lucy, Sophie, and of course, Fred.

This book was sold at the Vivo Contemporary Book Art Gallery in Santa Fe, NM on April 22nd. It will remain on display at the gallery between April 22nd thru May 10th, 2011.
It also won the People's Choice Award in the 2011 Eddy County Recycled Art Show.

Pat Meyers posted a link to the history of bandanas -- I might try and use some of my archive to design some photo bandanas
There was that one letter of his which included the annotation of a whole chess game. I guess he was playing the game as he wrote the letter. I've always wanted to recreate the game according to the notation and find out who won.
