Tiger Moms versus Frog Princesses.
Drawn with the help of my 22-month-old son. A crayon-based response to the media surrounding Amy Chua's 'Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother' and Pamela Druckerman's 'Bringing Up Bébé: One American Mother Discovers the Wisdom of French Parenting' (The Penguin Press: February 7, 2012).
I really think Chua and Druckerman should have a YouTube debate :)

A moose took an october bath in a villa pool outside Halmstad, Sweden. Firefighters emptied the pool of water and built an improvised stairway, but the moose was eventually put to sleep and lifted out of its akward situation.

My friend Scott Wilson is a 21st century fashion photographer whereas my style is definitely mid-20th century. So when he asked me to make a head-and-shoulders portrait of him for the profile page on his website www.tinyhalo.com/about that set up an interesting dialogue between two very different sets of aesthetic preference.
We collaborated well and had much amusement as our natural inclinations were so different on every aspect of the task. The only things we really agreed on were that I would use a DSLR and that we would use a studio. I wanted to use old-fashioned continuous lighting rather than flash and Scott agreed to that. His inclination was to move about and adopt different poses and facial expressions … I agreed to that but had to slow him down and persuaded him to sit because of the lighting constraints. I wanted to keep straightening and smoothing his clothes but he preferred an informal look. He wanted to stand within two feet of the main lamp to maximise the light intensity … I wanted to move him away to reduce the competition with the other lamp. I used apertures of f2.5 and f3.5 whereas he would have gone for f8. Then when it came to editing we agreed on monochrome but he preferred almost burnt out highlights and I was looking for fifty shades of grey. I added a subtle brown duotone but he rejected that for the stark black and white look. All very interesting and we great fun laughing at our different approaches.
So this is the image that Scott was pleased with and has used on the profile page of his website … and he gave me a very nice photo-credit too.

These Christian missionaries were in Guyana and I saw them praying for this Hindu Indian fisherman.
Touching scene.

The "Inside/Outside". Taos, New Mexico. As I was making this photograph the store keeper came out and pointed out that I could buy one instdead of taking a picture of it. Fortunately, I could point out the window reflection of the child on the pony ride, as well as the digital photo I had just taken to reassure him that I was not absconding with pixels of his products.
One thing I just noticed (and did not see at the time I took the photo), is the image of the painted horse that overlaps the reflection of the child on the horse ride. How cool is that?
Sister and I did this a really long time ago when I showed her a pic from Bebo (lol *sigh* back in the day) of something similar - except that it was done with sticky-notes stuck on a wall. I was pretty crap at drawin' the faces so she did most of them :o) The central longan has been severely permanent-markered haha.
Our mother yelled at us afterwards for "ruining" the fruit...

A shop specialising in tombstones in the Old Quarter in Hanoi, Vietnam. National icon Ho Chi Minh and Britney Spears hanging out. Welcome to 21st-century Vietnam.
PS: I finally removed the "Britney Spears" tag on this pic because it was obviously generating so many extra views! It was funny for a while imagining their disappointment at the un-sexiness of the pic, but enough already.
