The vast majority of bicycles used by students are the "mama chari" or shoppers with a low cross bar as used by mothers. I can understand why a mother, especially with her child in a child seat, may wish to have a low cross bar bike, but students, in the full bloomw of youth would be better serviced by a faster bicycle with a triangle. The Japanese claim to be so busy that they are the only country to have close and open buttons in their lifts, but at the same time they bicycle at a very leisurely pace. Perhaps they are busy, but also risk averse?
Opera-tan is the unofficial mascot for the Opera browser created by illustrator temp_h. According to temp_h's latest blog entry, Hobby Link Japan will be bringing out a garage kit figure of Opera-tan this November and that comrade Modeller-T will be the sculptor.
Is Opera the first browser to get its own figure then?
Used to be a die-hard IE user until about 2003-ish when I switched to Firefox. Me use Chrome on the MacBook Air though as Firefox is resource intensive. Have not been using Safari due to the lack of extensions up until recently. Gave Opera a whirl for a bit but then stopped whirling.

Hong Kong Transport - Trucks
The Hong Kong Truck Culture
The number of Trucks, Vans* and Special Purpose Vehicles (Light, Medium & Heavy) registered + licenced in Hong Kong seems to fluctuate between 120,000 - 125,000 vehicles and presumably new trucks registered are offset by old trucks being retired or sold over the border in China.
*Vans are classified as Light Goods Vehicles and are not shown in this album
In Hong Kong Trucks are classified as GOODS VEHICLES By the Transport Department - see below
☛Light Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight not exceeding 5.5 tonnes.
☛Medium Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight exceeding 5.5 tonnes but not exceeding 24 tonnes.
☛Heavy Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight exceeding 24 tonnes but not exceeding 38 tonnes.
The major truck types you tend to see in urban areas are trucks carrying construction materials or waste, dump trucks, concrete mixers and all sizes of delivery trucks... outside of the urban areas it is container trucks and large trucks carrying construction materials.
The following brands of Trucks can be seen on the streets of Hong Kong and include:-
Beiben ✚ Bell ✚ CAMC ✚ CNHTC ✚ DAF ✚ Dennis ✚ Dong Feng ✚ FAW ✚ Fuso ✚ Foton ✚ Ford ✚ Hino ✚ Howo ✚ Hyundai ✚ Isuzu ✚ Iveco ✚ JAC ✚ Kato ✚ KIA ✚ Liebherr ✚ MAN ✚ Mercedes Benz ✚ Mitsubishi ✚ Nissan ✚ Renault ✚ Scania ✚ Shacman ✚ Sinotruk ✚ Suzuki ✚ Toyota ✚ UD ✚ Volvo ✚ Zoomlion
Hong Kong is a brand conscious place even for trucks (!) hence the popularity of the European brands, Scania and Man are very popular and even the older trucks look the business and they are utterly reliable.
Isuzu is the market leader in terms of sale volume for all types of trucks.

The National Monument in Islamabad, Pakistan is a national monument representing the four provinces and three territories of Pakistan. After a competition among many renowned architects, Arif Masood’s plan was selected for the final design. The blooming flower shape of the monument represents Pakistan's progress as a rapidly developing country. The four main petals of the monument represent the four provinces (Balochistan, North West Frontier Province, Punjab, and Sindh), while the three smaller petals represent the three territories (Northern Areas, Azad Kashmir and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas). The Monument has been designed to reflect the culture and civilization of the country and depicts the story of the Pakistan Movement, dedicated to those who sacrificed themselves for future generations.
From air the monument looks like a star (center) and a crescent moon (formed by walls forming the petals), these represent the star and crescent on Pakistan's flag.
I have tried to present it in a different way and its so beautiful that in every shape it looks great.

“Many Cultures, One Focus – Achieving Great Success” was evident at Elmora School 12’s annual Multicultural Celebration. Parents were impressed with the variety of performances, including dances, songs, and poems that are popular around the world. The highlight of the event was the explosive fashion show. Over 80 students modeled traditional clothing from their native countries while the song “Coming to America” was played.
The production was flawless and the lesson was profound. We all learned that even though we may all come from different places, we share a bond and realize we truly are multicultural.
Mr. Argul, Supervisor of Music, showed his support with his standing ovation. “I was most impressed with your terrific hosts who were so very confident and professional and also the performance of ‘Frere Jacques’ which left me in tears of happiness!”

Batik Malaysia is different from the Indonesian or Thai batik in design and motif, especially handprint method. Producing batik is a unique process of wax blocking, then dyeing, drying and boiling of clothing materials through a repetitive process, done by hand, it demands skilled craftsmanship and constant quality control.
