One of Pyongyang's infamous female traffic controllers. Instead of traffic lights, throughout Pyongyang and other cities in North Korea, traffic controllers stand in the middle of intersections directing traffic. In some locations, there are umbrellas for them to help beat the heat. In other locations, traffic lights have been installed, but are only used in cold weather or when it's dark out.
Pyongyang traffic ladies are quite elusive. They seem to be everywhere, yet, you're always in the tour bus driving by, never quite able to get a good shot. So famous are these traffic controllers, that on some tours, you might actually make a 5 minute stop just to take photos of one! Jackpot!
Bridge crossing on the Menominee River near Pembine, Wisconsin. One side of the bridge is Wisconsin and the other side is Michigan. Wide enough for one vehicle only. Notice the make-shift fixup job of tree lumber to maintain the rail support. Bracketed exposures used for HDR work with Photomatix and Photoshop Elements.

Spalding Station
With a diverted Edinburgh to London King's Cross train, a Virgin HST set with 43308 on the rear, has just passed through Spalding station. The car and cyclists are crossing on the A151 to Bourne.
Just a few minutes before I heard the distinctive Stanier 'hooter', signifying its departure from Carlisle Citadel, I was observing an otter swimming upstream close to the river bank where I was standing, and I don't know who was more surprised! Just before 8.00am on Saturday 14th June 2013 Stanier 'Black 5' 45407, with its support coach, heads from Grosmont to Fort William, to take up its summer duties on the West Highland 'Jacobite' services.

A scene repeated daily throughout many a North American city. A crossing guard ensuring our children are safe crossing city streets to and from schools.
1,003 cyclists had crossed the Tilikum crossing (eastbound) and 26,662 so far this year.
A few minutes later I tweeted about this sign, and as I started composing the tweet there were 1,018 bikes that day and 1,034 by the time I had finished composing the tweet.
Shibuya Crossing, located in the heart of Tokyo, Japan, is one of the busiest and most iconic pedestrian crossings in the world. This image captures the dynamic atmosphere of Shibuya, where the pulsating energy of the city comes to life. The crossing is surrounded by towering buildings adorned with colorful advertisements and digital billboards, creating a vibrant and electric ambiance. The area is a hub of activity, with people from all walks of life converging to experience the unique blend of modernity and tradition that Tokyo offers.
Shibuya Crossing is not just a transportation node but also a cultural landmark. It reflects the rapid development and modernization of Tokyo over the years. The buildings around the crossing are a mix of contemporary architecture, with sleek glass facades, and older structures that add a touch of historical charm. Among the notable landmarks is the Shibuya 109 shopping mall, a fashion mecca since the 1970s, known for its cutting-edge styles and youth culture.
Historically, Shibuya has been a center for commerce and culture. The district has evolved from a quiet village during the Edo period to a bustling metropolis. The crossing itself symbolizes Tokyo's relentless energy and innovation. Each traffic light change brings a wave of pedestrians, creating a visual spectacle that is both chaotic and mesmerizing. The area is also a popular meeting spot, with the famous Hachiko statue nearby, commemorating the loyal Akita dog who waited for his owner every day at Shibuya Station.
Shibuya Crossing is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Tokyo. Whether you're interested in shopping, dining, or simply soaking in the urban atmosphere, this area offers an unparalleled experience that captures the essence of modern Japan.
Cars on CO-93 are stopped at a stoplight that is green 99.9% of the time! The West Local has to cross both CO-93 and CO-72. The crossings are not protected by traditional lights and bells, however. Instead, there is a stoplight. When a train approaches, it trips a circuit that turns the light red for traffic and the train gets a green light. Trains also proceed at restricted speed, ready to stop very quickly in the event cars are not paying attention. Of note, UP 1344 is ex-DRGW 3121, so it certainly is not a stranger to the Rocky Spur.

I was passing between the neo-Classical pillars of the Royal Scottish Academy on one of my Lockdown daily walks, and paused for a few moments, camera peering between the pillars to look at the pedestrian crossing where Hanover Street meets Princes Street, and shot a few snaps of people coming and going across it.

An aerial photo of the camp Moremi Crossing in midst of the Okavango Delta. Even though, the camp only consists of a main building with a large veranda and a few very comfortable tents, it is the biggest camp in the delta, and one of the most enchanted places I've ever have been. If you look for an extraordinary destination for your next trip, Moremi Crossing should definitely be on your list.
Topsham Level Crossing and Station on the Exmouth Branch,
There is a half hourly service and the trains cross here.
You can tell it must be a refined area with the signal box having net curtains.
In must be in a more privileged area than I am used to since there is a 30 minute service here and places the size of Oakham and Stamford only get one train an hour
The North Norfolk's Railway excellently restored four BR Mark 1 suburban coaches pass over Windpump Crossing, as they leave Kelling Heath and drop down towards Weybourne working the 11.30 Holt-Sheringham (11.51) service, which was headed by BR Green liveried class 31 locomotive D5631 (31207).

A multiple exposure of people crossing a footbridge. Where do they go, what are they thinking, what are their feelings? We will never know.
I dont ever want to feel

Another Cesar Challenge image. No I wasn't taking my life in my own hands (just for our resident H&S Guru Kevin) The line is rarely used and the level crossing gates are firmly padlocked shut
