Crete Senesi es una zona de la región italiana de Toscana al sur de Siena. Consiste en una serie de colinas y bosques entre pueblos e incluye los municipios de Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme y San Giovanni d'Asso, todos dentro de la provincia de Siena.
Crete senesi significa literalmente «arcillas sienesas» y las distintiva coloración grisácea del suelo da al paisaje una apariencia a menudo descrita como lunar, llamado después de la Edad Media el Deserto di Accona. Esta arcilla característica, conocida como mattaione, representa los sedimentos del mar Plioceno que cubrió la zona hace cuatro millones y medio de años.
Esta región, después de largo tiempo deshabitada, ha mantenido sus características originales que hacen difícil el cultivo de la vid y de los olivos. Sólo el cultivo de los cereales, de forraje y de girasoles ha sido posible a partir de una irrigación intensiva desde los cursos de agua en los límites de esta zona geográfica.

The Crete Senesi refers to an area of the Italian region of Tuscany immediately to the south of Siena. It consists of a range of hills and woods among villages and includes the comuni of Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme and San Giovanni d'Asso, all within the province of Siena. They border to the north with the Chianti Senese area, to the east with Val di Chiana and to the south-west with Val d'Orcia.[1] Nearby is also the semi-arid area known as the Accona Desert.
Crete Senesi are literally the "clays of Siena": the distinctive grey colouration of the soil gives the landscape an appearance often described as lunar. This characteristic clay, known as mattaione, represents the sediments of the Pliocene sea which covered the area between 2.5 and 4.5 million years ago. The landscape is characterized by barren and gently undulating hills, solitary oaks and cypresses, isolated farms at the top of the heights, stretches of wood and ponds of rainwater (commonly referred as fontoni, literally "big springs") in the valleys. Badlands and biancane [it] are typical conformations of the land.

This is my Crete diorama completely based off of the one from BFVA so all credit is to that group of guys.
I've had this built for almost a months and a half I've just been waiting on an order to come in with more parts for figs and stuff. Also I out of grass almost right away but didn't have money to get more so I needed to fill it up the empty space with a vehicle but didn't have one at at the time.
Hope y'all like it! also sorry for the non edited background, i will be doing that on my next moc.

In general there are some interesting coastal sections in Crete. But this is like on the most islands. There are many different perspectives, bays and coastal formations

The Lassithi Plateau is located at an altitude of about 800 metres in the interior of Crete, southeast of Iraklion and west of Agios Nikolaos. The plateau is largely surrounded by the Dikti Mountains, with Mount Selena in the north and the Dikti in the south. Lassithi is known for its hundreds of small historical windmills. The historical function of the windmills is to pump water, but of the many mills only a few are still working.

Das Kloster Moni Arkadi ist das mit Abstand bekannteste Kloster auf Kreta. Erstmals wurde das Kloster im 5. Jahrhundert nach Christus erbaut. Weltbekannt wurde das Kloster durch die Ereignisse am 9. November 1866.

Kournas Lake is the only freshwater lake in Crete. Lake Kournas was known as Lake Koressia in antiquity but later took its current name from the Arabic word for lake.
The lake is in a beautiful landscape, lying in a valley among the hills, about 4 km from Georgioupolis in Chania Prefecture (west Crete).
Lake Kournas is relatively small, with a maximum length of 1,087 m and a maximum breadth of 880 m. It covers an area of 579,000 sq. m. and is generally shallow, 22.5 m at its deepest point, while it lies approximately 20 m above sea level.

Phaistos / Festos ist nach Knossos die zweitwichtigste antike Sehenswürdigkeit auf Kreta. Es ist ein Palast der Hochkultur der Minoer im Süden der Insel Kreta unweit des Touristenortes Matala. Die Minoer waren die erste Hochkultur in Europa überhaupt und lebten vor allem auf Kreta.
