Miley Taylor, who attends Crenshaw County Career Academy, won second place in the 2020 Alabama Farm-City video contest. She accepted the award from State Farm-City Chairman Jeff Helms at the organization’s annual luncheon and awards program in Birmingham April 8. The 2020 theme was “Sweet Grown Alabama.”

Goose chase back to the firehouse: The fire department passed me heading north, then came back with their sirens blaring to their firehouse. Apparently, they got a medical emergency call for a prisoner in police custody elsewhere, then for whatever reason, the officer decided to leave the scene where the call came from and meet them at the fire station.

Crenshaw didn't have any boys' long-jump competitors at State -- they were all picked-off at the City prelims.

Fortunately, the boys long-jump pit was not too far from the west stands at Cerritos, so I was able to get a fair number of respectable (if cluttered) shots. I have only included a few of them here.

Although it's common for Crenshaw's athletes to have friends scattered across the City Section and to tell them about this flickr page, I never expected that the athletes from schools all across California would get the word that their few pix are here. But this pic of Aaron Bradley from Cerritos' own Gahr High School has been hit over 300 times!

Bradley came in 4th in the 2008 finals.

But a year later, on March 21, 2009, Bradley jumped 23' 9" at the San Clemente Triton

Invitational.
