What goes into the making of a transit project? Well, hundreds of millions (or billions) of dollars, a lot of elbow grease and noise, and then a service opens.

Before that can even get under way, transit projects must be exhaustively studied. Here are some of the preliminary documents for the Crenshaw Corridor. At the left is the binder with study options, findings, and public communication. There's at least a ream of paper, making it at least 500 pages long.

On the right is the blueprint for station sites. In comparison to the mammoth 4-inch-thick binder, the blueprints are about a quarter page thick and contain dozens of different station specifications for BRT and light rail.

This one was so ripe there was a hole on the bottomside I could put my finger through. When they're that ripe, they're as sweet as any melon can be and have a texture like a mango.

Manningham, Alabama

Constructed by Dr John Coleman between 1817-21. The frame two story, wood structure has a gable roof over the four major rooms and a shed roof on the back. It is a rare frame Federal style structure. It was occupied until 1909 by a Coleman descendent. It was sold to a freed slave Gardner Crenshaw and his wife Ruby in 1909 and is still held in a trust for the Crenshaw Family. It is listed on the Alabama Register of Historic Places.
